Thanks for the kudos guys. Not sure I would have been so cool if it hadn't been my buddy's son next door.
Willis, if and when I ever get these assemblies I'll find out for you.I'm pretty sure you would have to remove the front bumper to get to it.There is a hatch under the driver and passenger foot wells but that only provides access to wiring with a tiny opening to the assembly.(my body guy tried that)

Magoo is absolutely correct about the PDR guys (Paintless Dent Repair).... depending on the size of the dents. These guys can perform miracles on small dents and door dings but choose carefully. For every 10 of them, one does GREAT work, 5 are mediocre and 4 have no idea what they're doing.

Be careful storing wood inside your garage. Here in Georgia that would attract termits !

I know the feeling. I stored my gas-tanks on a shelf above the car (first mistake) while working on the rebuild. I don't have to tell you what happened... $700 later, but damn is that hood and headlight look good now! (Magoo knows about this story. I was too embarrased to tell it here before, but now...).

The aluminum hood had a small but very deep dent, paint chipped off, no choice but to repaint.

Martin,

When you get the light assembly installed, please find out how to clean the inside of the clear light assembly cover for me. I have dried water spots on the inside of the cover. I can't see them in the daytime but it's hideous at night.

Thank you.

I also think that you did the right thing. Good man! And good news that it can be fixed easily. Brave to post such an incident, would probably be to embarrassed myself, but s... happens, we all know that.

Magoo,
Unfortunately there is a small crack in the paint at the base of the larger dent.Since I am supposed to receive my headlight assemblies this week (ha) the body guy who is superb says it will not be a major deal to fix the dents since the bumper has to come off anyway when he installs the new assemblies,

Martin, Is the paint damaged where the dents are? If not I would try and have it rolled out rather then do body work and have it painted. Not only that, hoping the paint will match. Those guys with their magic wands can roll out dents and you won't know they were ever there. We have one down here called Paintless Dent Removal. I feel certain you have one in your area. The price is usually right compared to body work.

You did the right thing. The car can be fixed. Making the kid feel bad for trying to do a good job is more damaging. Accidents happen and not all can be prevented but being mean can be prevented all the time. Good move!!!

Man that was so nice of you to let the kid off like that. I like to think I would of done the same thing, but in the red haze it would have been very difficult not to strangle him. Nice job, screaming (killing) him would not have taken the dents out and demanding he(or his family) pay for it would have been putting the blame where it does not belong.

I would have saved the $25 bucks too.

This was your good deed for the year (decade?)!!

Sweet mother of God I do not envy you. For this F*ck up, I would demand FREE firewood that would equal to the repair cost. Post some photos of the damage if you can. Good luck.

Ouch!! The dents will cost some bucks to take out.

It might be a better idea to stack the wood outside and just cover it with tarp.

So I had 1/2 cord of firewood dumped at the foot of my garage and they wanted $50 to stack it in the garage.NO WAY JOSE I say and get the 16 yr old next door to do it figuring I'll give hin $25 and save $25.He stacks it on the left side of the garage to the ceiling (no Car there) the 360 is on the other side nicely covered.
At hour one I hear a tremendous crash----The whole shooting match has collapsed with 2 large logs sitting on the front fender.I peek under the cover and lo and behold 2 nice sized dents! The kid was frantic so I told him no problem that the dents had been there.Gave him his $25 -So I saved $25!!! Haven't gotten an estimate yet but my wife is getting a lot of mileage out of my shrewdness.
