I imagine it's safety regulations, for the most part, but it's really unfortunate. Not long ago I saw a 330GT 2+2 parked next to a 456 -- remember, these are both "big" four-seat Ferraris -- and the 330 would have damn near fit in the 456's trunk. The 330 was about the same size as a '90s BMW 3-series (E36), whereas the 456 was BIG -- much bigger, IMHO than was necessary. It's a very wide, looming car. |

Its a whole lot. More comfort, more protection and handling as well. Driving a 308 vs a 355 or 348 is no comparison. The 308 is smaller but the 355 and 348 handles much more like a cart. You would be surprised. I did not yet drive a 360 but enjoyed the added legroom where you can actually stretch and reach the pedals comfortably. At 6'4'' driving a 308 is close to impossible. When I was in my 20s I was able to do that today with back problems...no way! |

A lot of the increased size has to do with the crumple zones required for safety reasons. |

All cars r slowly getting bigger again, they shrank in the 70's & have been growing again since the 70s oil crisis ended. Have u noticed the SUV craze with all those slow ill handling whales on the highways? Also Ferrari just has to keep up with the competition. The NSX was built to carry large Americans well over 6ft. Since a lot fo athletes now have Ferrari size $ & tend to b large, Ferrari, Lambo, Lotus etc all had to give them larger cockpits or lose their $. Lamborghini has a 6.0 Diablo & now Murcielago, Viper has an 8.0L V10, the new MB Silver Arrow will have a 6.0 L V12. Ferrari has to keep up or pay the consequences |

Their conscience was hurting them for charging so much for such a little car. |

Comfort is one consideration. I'm not a big guy but a 308 feels very cramped to me. My 360 is cart-like once I got used to the width. |

I just went shopping this weekend for my next car. Looking at maybe 348 or 355 spiders. I have always liked the 308 best but not enough power. As I look at 348 512TR 355 and 360 they are huge compaired to 308. I like small cars they seem to be more cart like. Does anyone know why cars are getting bigger? |
