Congrats Paul, I'll bet if you are looking for manuals and pouches you are also looking for a tool kit, Right? No I don't have one but it seems like that is what happens to all used Ferraris anymore. What color is it? I came very close to buying a black one, saddle interior with 24,000 miles on it. I really like the car. Give us some more info. .

Paul, congratulations up front.
This is truely a car you have to see in person to apprechiate. I never liked them from the pix either but in person this is a true gem. Wolf in a sheep skin.

For owners stuff you can find a lot at: www.ferrariliterature.com
Ken bought some stuff from me and is nice to deal with. You may want to try your Ferrari dealer as well. Parts may have one or so flying around that thex can sell you. Have traded some 328 and Mondial manuals for 348 brochures I have that they wanted.

I'm the guy who has just won the ebay auction for the 400i shown by psalmu. I have seen it and started it but won't receive it until next week. It is absolutely immaculate - and yes, the most luxuriously appointed Ferrari I have ever seen. To the guy who thinks it is so ugly - I think the lines look more like the 70's Bertone desings (which I generally don't like)than a Pininfarina (which it is) but in person it is much more appealing than in photos. And where else can you get an amazing sounding Ferrari V-12 for under $24,000. Just not the same as a V-8...

Does anyone have any ideas on where I can get the original owners manuals and pouches?

Actually, the engine came from the 365 GTC/4 and enlarged over the years respectively (to 400cc per cyl, to the final 412cc per cyl). The Daytona had the same block, but different heads (hence the use of side-draft 38DCOE carbs on the C/4 and the use of 40DCN down-draft carbs on the Daytona).

This would be the next Ferrari that I would like to get, I think its the best V-12 buy out there.

I had a 1977 400GT 5 speed several years ago. It was a great car ! It had the same V-12 as the Daytona with six two barrel side draft Weber carbs. and it sounded wonderful. The car looks much better in person than it does in photos. I wish I still had it. Its true that they have lost a much higher percentage of their value than two seats Ferraris, but all four seat Ferraris have. It can seat four peolple in comfort unlike the Mondial which has a cramped back seat. It had cam chains rather than belts and was inexpensive to work on as Ferrari's go. For the mid $20,000.00 range it is a great buy.

The interiors on those cars were the most luxurious I have ever seen. The car wouldn't get out of it's own way from a stop light but above 50 or 60 mph it would haul ass. It didn't have a sport look by any means but it was not ugly. That car was supposed to be the ultmate in luxury driving. I must admit that I only liked it in black and didn't care for the exhaust pipes how they were slung, exposed, under the rear. The Turbo 400 G.M. trans. was a good addition. I toyed with buying one but passed.

It is probably the ugliest ferrari ever produced (sorry to anyone who has one) and one of the ugliest cars ever.

The automatic 400 series of cars used a GM transmission. There was a car on ebay last week for sale without an engine, technically then you could bolt up a chevy 350 in the 400i and have a Ferrari with Chevy maintenence. Personally I'd try to find a Ferrari 12 to put in there but it would still be kinda cool. Maybe even a Northstar (300hp) from a Cadillac STS.

It is the saloon version of a Ferrari. I think it used a 12 cylinder engine. It was produced in both manual and auto transmission. The first auto box on a Ferrari. Check out:

www.carsfromitaly.com/ferrari/index.html

go to Models and see some specs.

To see photos try a European used car site:
www.car4you.ch

Check 412 and click on any for sale to see the car. Hope these help.

I frequently see the 400i mentioned.

The Ferrari NA site on older vehicles is down.

What is the 400i, does anyone have any pictures, and are there any web sites?

Thanks, Dave
