Mike,I have Nationwide Insurance. They are awesome. They did not want to write the policy at first, but after the Agent realized that I was in California, they finally wrote the policy. Originally they told me that any F-Car was on the non-insurable list. Then she said "Oh you are in California, we can (or have to) insure any car based on the value". It is my 5th car so I only pay $780 per year with a 3000 mile per year restriction. |

Leyland west- they let you state the market value of your car, and they then base preiums on that! Very friendly. I live in NJ (the worst state to buy insurance), and pay less than $600/year for my porsche at the full market value- less than 50% of the cost from my main insurer (AIG) who would probably only give me the BS blue book value god forbid something ever happened. Restriction is that it can't be your only car (each driver in the house must have a car they use), which is probably the case anyway for most people on this board who have Ferrari as 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. car., and car must be garaged. I think I can drive 5K miles per year, which is more than I drive the car anyway, or you can pay a nominal fee to increase the mileage. Great people at Leyland! |

A lot of carriers don't want to insure Ferraris. They will take the insurance, without restriction, if you are already a policy holder, and in fact, in some states they are legally required to write the coverage. If it is your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th car, the cost can be very inexpensive. I pay about 800 a year on the 355, because its my 4th car. Art |

How do you avoid the "shows only" type restrictions? Hagerty, Leland West, etc. all have these. I want to take my car to work a couple of times a year to show it off. HELP! |

Hagerty is mine for the Lotus; Chubb is the underwriter. Usual restrictions but very cheap: $134 a year, no deductible. My one claim was handled wonderfully! |

You need to do your "due diligence.." and pull out an issue of Forza and call all the carriers that advertise and compare prices. I used Grundy which is underwritten by Chubb. I had a claim, and Chubb was great...too bad they won't insure me any longer. :-) |

Mike I insure my 90 348 with State Farm. No major limitations however I was told if I drove it 30 k a year it could be a problem. Its about 900 dollars per year. I was using American Classic car insurance but it was 1200 dollars per year for limited miles and only showes etc. I was surprised with the quote. It is due for renewel in Nov so I don't know what it will be yet but I was pleased.

I have searched the archives, read many posts, most praising Chubb for Ferrari coverage. I called my local agent (found him on the internet via the Chubb site), and he seemed more interested in "saving me money" with American Classic Car insurance. Any thoughts? I have not gotten the quote or specifics yet, but this was not what I expected. |
