Just wondering, why would some one put an invisible bra on such a low mileage car, especially if it's not been driven.Btw if memory serves me right, the invisible bra thing is fairly new product so does that mean it was put on recently and if yes then the question is why !!!!!I hope the odo was not tempered with !!
Later, Yasir

Wayne.. Are you a "Any color but red buyer"?

So far, I'm not a buyer at all. If I were, yes, I would try to avoid red at all costs.

BTW, my "concours winner" comment was soaked in a heavy coat of sarcasm.

The sad thing is this car is banished to the garage forever due to its low miles.

Concours winner = trailer queen(probably the only way you will get her around for the first year, as more things go south). Leave it for a waxer, they appreciate these "barn finds".

I'm in there is a GUARANTEED other winner.
Charles..if the major was done yesterday I MIGHT
be able to have 15k worth of fun with it without
major expense.

Wayne-- you know a 45 year old virgin is
usually a nun!! We ALL know to stay away.

Tha bad thing about these ultra-low mileage cars
is, you have to pay a premium price with no real
advantages. Especially if you plan on driving it.

sure, and if you win, say, an infinite number of concours with it, you'll never cover the costs of the service it undoubtedly needs :-).

If you get the car at a reasonable price...I'd say go for it and then get it into tip-top shape...but red interior on a blue car....UGH!

I'm friends with the owner of the dealership that's selling that TR. I bought 4 cars from his dealership in Boston. I don't know what "could" go wrong with a car like that that's never really been driven but I can speak for the dealership as far as if there was anything currently wrong with it, he wouldn't have it for sale there. They have a great reputation and stand behind their cars 110%.

wayne - call naples and talk to them. they are purported to be good guys (they have a sister shop here in MA). you want to buy it. they want to sell it. it's just a math problem.

she is very sharp, dude! very distinct color combo - i like!

Any other car in a time capsule and you wouldn't have TWO majors costing 15k with only
700 miles on it!
I remember buying a new TR in 87. It cost me
sticker which was 127k.Oh well that was then this is NOW!

I saw that car too. In reference to Bruce's post, maybe (hopefully) they changed the tires so you wouldn't have that expense? Why would the clutch need replacing- would that dry out too? Looks tempting though, doesn't it- it's like a time capsule car...

Gary
yes that is it. That is my bid.. 67k ..All the money but fortunately below the reserve.I'm just looking for something until the 360CS I ordered arrives (probably the end of next year)..I'm bored, but don't want to be bored & STUPID!
thanks for all insights..I didn't even think of shocks for example.

Is this the car that you are bidding on?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2433398060&category=6212

I agree with the rest of the guys... it's going to cost a lot to get this car completely sorted out. Even the shocks will probably have to be rebuilt or replaced, because of lack of use.

expect to do the major again immediately and then sink more time and money into it as all the crap that dried out or fell apart due to disuse failed.

if you want a car to drive, i'd look elsewhere. TRs aren't tough to come by.

i guess if you plan to drive it, this would be a situation where odometer tampering would be a GOOD thing :-)

I can think of one thing right off the bat. Even with a major done it was 4 years ago and for sure the seals, gaskets, etc will all be dried out if the car hasn't been started on a regular basis.

I made the mistake of letting my car sit for 6 months and I had to replace all the gaskets

Expect the worst, wayne.
If you want a show car, buy it.
If you want to drive it, I would stick with something with a bit more "driven" miles. Even with the major done, it doesn't erase the "gremlins" that get worked out from driving these cars over time.

good luck!

I'm bidding on an 89 TR with 730 miles and a 4 year old major already done. Since I drive my cars and can't relate to this mileage on a 14 year old car.. should I expect a group of mechanical problems due to non-use??This to me is the equivilent of a 45 year old virgin so I'm not sure what expect!!!
