Steven, i can't thank you enough... i emailed you yesterday, but since you have AOL, i'm positive it didn't go through... AOL and this private message system don't get along... i'll email you as soon as i get the chance...

I actually have a collection of helmets of various sizes, all Snell 2000 rated (lots of girlfriends of varying size). If you can make it, great, if not I'll be at Cavallino in January, then the whole series here again starting next May.

The offer will remain open.

4 days in 2 1/2 years?? Is that even legal? If you are that responsible you can come work for me.

LOL, Tony, i wish it were as cut and dry as accepting or declining but there's more involved... i could probably even get away with another day off (cringe), but still, other factors come into play...

Dave, i sent; let's hope this thing works... i've had problems with the private message system on the board, before...

Yeah, a renegotiation is long overdue, although we just sat down and discussed some things the other day... Still, i know the money won't be what it should be and that pisses me off... Eh, that's another story completely, i don't wanna tie up this thread with my tales of woe (translation: my whiney complaints)...

Dave, the helmet that came with the bike was a 95, M-rated... Not up to par for a racetrack; racetrack needs to be SA and i think 95 cuts it really close... There was a whole discussion on this a while back in a thread i started about helmets...

DES bring up his profile, then click on send him a message at the bottom. What happened to the bike helmet . . .don't tell me you did not wear a helmet. None of my business really, but 3-4 days off in 2+ years, you need to renegotiate.

Steven, i'm speechless... Thank you so much... That is just an incredible offer... A ride in a 360 Challenge at Pocono and possibly driving the car myself... If that isn't a dream made reality, i don't know what is... i'm just so totally blown away... Thank you so much... i think everyone here knows i want nothing more than to be in a Ferrari on a track...

No, i don't have a helmet, unfortunately; i'm working on getting one for the French Quarter Classic but with no such luck so far...

Steven, i feel like a complete and total ass for having to say this and everyone's gonna burn me for it (and rightfully so!) but i've no choice but to decline... Not because i want to, i'd LOVE to go, it's a dream come true... Unfortunately, i recently took a few days off from work and October 7th is a Tuesday, which means i'd have to take another day; i don't even know how i'd make it out there... i feel so stupid, i always told myself i'd quit my job, i'd give my first born, i'd do whatever for an opportunity like this but then when it comes down to it, it's not all that easy...

Steve, i'm eternally grateful, i really am... i must apologize for declining this truly awesome offer, please forgive me, it's just beyond my means to accept... i sincerely appreciate it, i really do... i have knots in my stomach just thinking about this... i don't even wanna post this post... i wanna go home and crawl into bed and pretend i never saw it, 'cause it really sucks to have to post this...

i really don't think i'd get fired if i took another day off, but my boss and i just spoke yesterday about a pay increase so i don't know how well another day off would go over... i've taken 4 days off in the last two and a half years and 3 of those 4 have been in the last two weeks; no big deal for some people, sure, but comparitively speaking, it's a lot clumped together... My boss is used to the fact that i never take off and has grown somewhat greedily accustomed to it... Ok, now i'm just rambling, sorry... Steve, can i have your email address...?

Steven and Vernon- you guys are great, that's what I love about this board, sharing the passion!

The offer to drive a 360C is amazing, I'm jealous! :P DES, you have to nail it on the back straight in one of these, it will take your breath away! Get a helmet, keep it in your car with you (wrap it in blankets in the trunk) always ready! ;)

PS: Vernon, my buddy would go nuts if he heard you had an M20R! He went to Riddle, and flew several of their Mooneys. Great planes!

DES: TAKE HIM UP on it! Check out my profile pic, this is due to the generosity of my pilot buddy (ok, we split the cost whenever we can, but he's the one who spent all the $ in training! Thanks to him, I've laned a twin-engine plane, at night, at SFO International's 28R!)

Airplanes are ALMOST as cool as Ferraris!

Best!
Ben.

PS: I've got my Sarah Silverman Dirty Apartment slippers, MY FIRST SONY, my electric-green tape measure (with metric conversion), my Salvador Dali Sweat pils, my ring-a-ling-ting-tang Space Drink(TM)(R), half a canoe, and a sock I can't identify. I'm ready!

DES, All these nice offers are making me feel guilty.

Since you are such a fanatic and seem to have missed a ride in a 360 Challenge (from your profile) you can ride with me if you show up Oct. 7th at Pocono for the FCA event.

If it seems like you know what you are doing, don't throw up on me, and Bob Coates and Chris agree, you can take it out in the Green class with an instructor (I'm not an instructor).

Let me know ASAP whether you can make it that day. I'll have to add you on to the list. Do you have a helmet?

Des and Jordan,

I offered Des a ride in my Mooney or if it works out an A-Star helicopter, whichever one I have when our schedules cross.

Jordan the Ovation does about 180 knots and is a very fun plane to fly.

Des bring as many cameras as you would like, you can get some great pictures as we cruise around the island and maybe up around Marthas Vinyard

That batmobile pik is funny. I was telling my friend at the Morristown show that it would be hysterical if one of these guys in the Enzos got out in a batman outfit! I would do it, then again my chances of having the Enzo to do it with are slim!

Yes, it is. Definitely one of the better sites to browse. I see that the Enzo has returned with 130 miles and is for sale. Have you had a chance to get behind the wheel? I will be coming down to buy it along with the 288 GTO just as soon as my Nigerian freinds finish a transfer to my account.

I see this one sold

Ken,
Actually, Bruce was joking about me not having my tools. Not only do I have my tools, I have my books, records, original window sticker, etc. I didn't show it because I though that the judging was much stricter and based more on cleanliness. As for originality, my car is almost as it left the factory. Oh well. Next year, right?

Why didn't you show your car? I looked at your car when we were at Bruce's and it is super clean. You would have won a Platinum. I wish that I knew you were not showing it so that I could give you swift kick in the shin. Not having tools is at most a 1-2 point deduction. You need only need 95 points for a platinum.

I did not want to sound like a smartass (OK, maybe I did), but I had to bring this to your attention. Judging really sucks because you cannot see the cars outside of your class and you do not have time to show your own car when its being judged. However, there are some perks, and this happens to be one of them. I did not of course tell you that one of the owners of an Enzo offered to let me drive his car this weekend, because I would have heard you screaming all the way in South Jersey. See you next time at the Judge's Tent.

One of the Enzo's received a Platinum. What I found to be funny was that 2 of the Enzo's were leaking oil, and one had a dent in the muffler. These are brand new $650K Ferrari's too. I am glad to see that things have not changed much over the years at Ferrari.

As to Benedict's F355, I believe that you may have received a Platinum. If your car was registered and you arrived by 10AM, it would have been judged. Email me at [email protected] and I will ask the powers that may be as to the status of your award (if any).

And to DES, I tried to do you a big favor by judging with me. You stayed for all of 5 minutes in the judges meeting and then left. You said that the meeting was boring and wanted to look at the cars instead. Well DES, I hope that you are sitting down. After judging the TR class, I was given the super car class (i.e. 288 GTO, F-40, F-50 and ENZO) to judge. We were up close and personal with the owner's and their cars. And as part of judging, we have to get in the cars and the owners have to start them too! You really missed out. Sorry, but I tried to help you. Better luck next time.

LMAO, Ken, this is great... i had a great time at the event and was so glad i could go... i asked everyone that was going before we got there, "Do you think there will be an Enzo there...?" and although i got some positive responses, no one for sure... When we got there, at the bottom of the grassy hill, there it sat. Red. Alone. A car in a class all by itself. i was mesmerized...

The second one must have crept in 'cause i didn't see it until it was parking next to the first one... When the third one got there, i ran up to the check-in DESk, dying batteries in my camera, flailing my arms, panting, "Look, everyone...! Another Enzo...!" After i followed it down the hill, i had to take a breather... Chest pains set in and, like Ken said, i was close to overload... The 4th one pulled in and i thought i was dreaming... If i didn't have ADD before then, i certainly have it now; i couldn't focus, couldn't concentrate; running back and forth from Enzo to Enzo, taking different pictures of cars that were identical... By nightfall, my camera read that 252 pictures were taken... i got a bill in the mail this morning from Rob for bandwidth...

It was a great event and when i have a chance to upload (read: unload) my pictures, i will... Thanks to everyone who was there; Bruce, thanks for taking me; if it weren't for you, i would've never made it... Also thanks to Todd, Petoula, Hutch, Gus, Jeremiah, et al; i had a great time... It was nice to finally meet Tom Buckley, Dave Monk and Preston Davis... Dr. Lee, it was a pleasure - even though you didn't bring your noodle... Ferretti, Adam, it was nice seeing you two again... Ferretti, next time just park on the lawn with the Ferraris... :-)

Ken, did any of the Enzos win any awards or were they there just for display...? 4 Enzos... Truly a sight to behold...

I am new to this forum but I think I saw DES at the event. There was a guy jumping around by the GTO about to have an orgasm. He said he had a poster of this car his entire childhood. He asked the guy polishing it whether he was the owner and the guy condescendingly said "no I'm stealing it". Was that you DES? What is your real name? I didn't stay for the awards but who won the 355 class? Did one car in every class get an award?
I was the guy with the 1998 355 F1 Spider, yellow with black interior. My plates say "FOR ARI". Did I win anything? LOL.

This past weekend the Penn-Jersey Region of the FCA hosted their annual Garden State Ferrari Festival in Morristown, NJ. As usual, the turn out was great and there were lots of great cars (at least 130+ Ferrari's). Among the cars were a 275 GTB/4, 288GTO, F-40, F-50 and a few Enzo's. DES made the trip to give his approval and blessing of the show. As always, DES was pretty cool and fun to be around.

At the beginning of the show two Enzo's were brought out on the field. Upon seeing the Enzo's DES went crazy. We had to put a choke collar around him to prevent him from car jacking the Enzo's. Despite the choke collar, DES was armed with his digital camera and I am sure that he is busy loading the pictures right this moment. To add to DES' frustration, the two Enzo's were parked right next to a 288GTO. DES acted just like a 5 year old on his birthday. He was so excited and running from car to car. For fear of our lives, we had to keep the pathway between the car free in fear of being run over by DES. After DES calmed down a little after spending some time next to the Enzo's, another two Enzo's drove onto the field. At the sight of seeing 4 Enzo's DES just imploded right in front of us. His system must have overloaded and could not take all of the excitement. It was ashame since I was really beginning to like DES too.

In all seriousness, I have never seen anyone so excited before in my entire life. DES could not run to all of the cars fast enough to check them out. I did not see DES after the 3rd and 4th Enzo arrived, but I assume that he is home and safe and sound. If not, we will have to start looking for an Enzo being driven by DES.

In all it was a great day.

Ken
