I concur. I have a 360 Spider with a Tubi, and thre is no way the Tubi gives 15hp. I haven't dynoed the car, but I've driven lots of performance cars, and I'm pretty sure I would feel 15 additional hp. Quite possible by adding straight pipes and Tubi filters you may gain some hp, but I think even 15 would be a stretch with those further mods.

Tubi = Cool sound, negligible hp gain

It sounds great- 15-20 hp from just going to a tubi! I do doubt it. If anyone, (open challenge) can show me a 15 hp gain from a dyno test, by just adding a tubi, I'll bye the beer- BUT, if you do the dyno claiming to be able to gain this much power, and you DON'T, I wana drink free! Any takers?
Seriously guys, 15 whp is a lot of power to gain.
When I added STAIGHT pipes to my 308 Euro, I netted less than 5 whp, no mufflers, (well see through glass packs), and NO CATS!
BTW- my Twin Turbo 348 has no muffler at all!
So even on the MIGHTY 360 ;) a 15 whp gain is BIG. I doubt it..............

Thanx guys for your mail/comments, I think theres obviously a lot of risk in squeezing a bit more ummmpth... I think ill go Tubi and get Manu at Scuderia to fit it and give me 200.00 if i dont like it .....now thats a good deal.

go to the following thread :http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/320090.html?1064495694
claiming a 48hp increase for the 360 on just the ecu change!

I'd just be real careful pushing the engine in your car. Does anyone have any clue how much a replacement would be? Is 20-50hp too much to try to squeeze without hurting your reliability?

"at best" I said. I didn't say guaranteed. Besides if you do the math it works out to just that. You also forgot that we are talking about a 400hp engine, and not a 240hp 308 engine.

3% of 400hp = 12hp
4% of 400hp = 16hp
5% of 400hp = 20hp

So yes 15-20hp, also keep in mind that this doesn't include the extra ponies from the raised red line. Not that they are a whole lot but they do add up.

>>15-20 hp from changing the muffler? I doubt it<<

Didn't Rob Lay publish some 328 Dyno data that showed 3-5% increase for a TUBI? FNA told me my 512TR TUBI should give 4-5% but I have never seen any data. He said the reason they aren't on new cars is they couldn't pass Euro or US noise tests. MY TUBI's have a "lawyers stamp" that says "for competition use only"

Call Tate Casey at Carobu Engineering. He can build a motor for you. He was featured in Forza recently. Tell him Brent from DexM referred you.

Joe

There was an article in a past issue of Froza about a company called DigiTech. They are in Germany and have a modified ecu replacement that helps. They removed the speed governor and raised the red line some. I think the top speed they got was some were around 196mph as opposed to 189. As others have said you can install a Tubi. But at best you will probabley get 15-20hp. One other thing you could do is go to larger plug wires that have less resistance. But that is only good for at best 3hp.

How long do you want the engine to last?

---Just don't even think of nitrous or a turbo.---

I agree with matt, if it's a street car, I'd go staight for a supercharger :-)

If you worship hp, boost is your freind.

I'd advise you to call James at Norwood performance. He's an expert. He can tell you most anything about performance increase and reliablility/ drivability you want, and he knows of what he speaks. That being said, I don't know if he's done ANY 360's.
I agree, your normally aspirated 360 will be crushed by the lambo. :-(

Tubi will give you no noticeable power increase, just better sound. Changing the ECU can make the car uncomfortable to drive on city streets, but would be fine for the track. High-flow air filters (Tubi) maybe got me 5bhp more. Even the Stradale only makes 435 bhp, and it effectively has straight pipes. These engines are already so highly developed there is not much short of a blower that will give you another 50 bhp. I've been on this search for 3 months.

Agree with Willis. Heiko can get pretty much anything you would need.

For performance, you can get ECU, intake, exhaust, straight pipes, headers, and if you want you can look into wieght reduction and whatnot.

I know you can add an exhaust but I'm not to high on the technical side. Maybe an air filter. Just don't even think of nitrous or a turbo.
