In the midst of my "fun" with the Ferrari today (finding the oil leak) I figured out how it works. It seems to be adjusted so that the pots more out proportionally with each other, I think it's just a weak system. I'm gonna lube up the cable a little and the pullies. |

Yeah I'll check on tightening it up a little. It starts to hold more and more progressively, I think about the 5 click is when it will really hold the car on a steep hill. I always leave my cars in gear. How does the hand brake work on the 308? I see the cables and pullies, I'm assuming that it pushes the pads onto the rotor based on how it attaches to that hook type thing on the back of the caliper(rather than some models which have separate drum brakes for the handbrake). |

This TR is on ebay for sale (it looks the same to me) There was some one on ferrari chat some days ago who asked advise on buying it. Ebay writes ".The vehicle was involved in a left rear accident and repaired . There was no engine or frame damage......"????????????????? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=596949309&r=0&t=0 |

Bret, In other words your parkingbrake is totally out of adjustment. What you are actually doing is distorting the rotor trying to push it up against the pads. 308 parkingbrakes are marginal at the best, but correctly adjusted they work fine (for a while). Have a look at your manuals for the procedure. PLUS always put the car in gear when leaving it anywhere other than dead flat terrain. |

LOL Sam, how true. If I have to leave my car on any sort of hill I use the trusted two handed yank technique on the handbrake. I actually have to pull on it with almost all my might, granted it is awkward to do sitting in the 308. |

Since when does the parking brake in any Ferrari more than 5 years old work anyway! --I thought that was where the invention of the gated gearshift came from. |

I wonder how recent that picture is? It looks like the one on ebay. |

Well based on my observations, that TR is a post 86 car, as the car has the mirrors at the bottom of the A pillar and has one on the other side. If it were an 84, 85 or 86, it would have one single drivers side mirror in the middle. Mitchel |
