There's that old N64 game that recreates a Schumi run in the benetton where it starts to rain and you have to pass 16 cars in a few laps. Not easy. A great race though, even if I had to "watch" it by tracking the live sector times on formula1.com |

Shumi is THE rain master. Can't remember what year it was, possibly 98 or 99 he was so far in front at a wet monaco that he was able to take a spin just after the start/finish and recover to still win the race. His first win for ferrari in 96 was in the wet, he blew Villeneuve away who was in a far superior williams. I said he was genius based on his career successes. When he went to ferrari in 96 they were a middle of the road team. Very unorganised with a bad car. He turned them around, admittedly with the likes of Ross Brawn et all but it is his input into the car that has made it succeed. What happened to Bennetton when he left after he had succured back to back championships in 94 and 95, erm nothing. I am a Brit and I should be behind the likes of Button and Coultard (which I am) but Shumi has so much talent that you gotta love the guy. As I said, genius. |

Luck? Did you watch the race? If anything Schumacher was unlucky. He went into the pits and I was screaming, "PUT ON THE WETS!" as I proceded to watch them put on the drys and come back into the pits on the very next lap. Michael was way back after this point and reeled in and passed Jarno Trulli (I think), then eliminated about a 6-10 second gap to take out Frentzen, then 15 MORE SECONDS to Jenson Button, eventually passing him and proceeding to walk away with the race. He was simply the best driver out there in those conditions. If it were not for the extra pitstop he had to make, he would have won by 40 or more seconds.

Well, we had a BIG PARTY and when the red car went out front there was lots of RED in my TV and the party got BIGGER. JPM did take Rubin out but I don't think IMO that it was intentional. Rubin helped Micheal out after all! SPEED and ESPN both have pretty good race recaps. "Let's watch it again!" My yard looks almost as bad as under the Indy stands. |

Sorry Paul but it cant really be said hes a genius (in this race). Im a huge Ferrari fan and I like MS, but this race was based on luck, the fact the Michelin wets are crap and Montoya had a string of bad luck. But as Paul B. mentioned thats racing, cant really complain about it. If I had to give the best drive award it would have to be to Kimi.

I saw it first hand. It seemed as though rubens was on the inside and JPM just tracked out too far, pushing him off the track from my view.

What's this pit stop penalty anyway? Seems like a couple drivers got the penalty. It's hard not to speed in the drive thru... |

"Rubens got bumped out early in the race by Montoya" Did anyone really see this? TV seemed to just catch the middle of the event as contact was already in progress. What happened? Was Rubens blocking Montoya? Was Montoya just pushing to hard? |

Sweet victory for Ferrari! In the beginning, I thought Ferrari had lost it (w/ Barrichello out too soon and Schumi being overtaken by Coulthard and Alonso). Was an exciting race, esp. the first 40 laps. Got it on tape and will be watching it over and over again! |

When the track is damp the Bridgestone slicks are not a match for the Mitchelins as you could see. Shumi was really struggling under braking but as the track got wet, and he switched to the inters, they are far superior to anything mitchelin have. Williams etc were running the wets and they just could not get anywhere near him. Also the Bridgestone inters are as near to 3 seconds of a decent lap on slicks on a drying track. Also did you see that Shumi did not have to go off the racing line to run his tyres in the very wet part of the circuit to stop the tyres basically destroying themselves. Kimi was also outstanding. But what can you say, from 7th to 1st, the guy is a genius. |

also what if.................. 1- Montoya did not get detained during refueling 2- Montoya did not get a drive through penalty? 3- Montoya did not go off the track? As they say; thats racing! |

Apparently, Bridgestone's "Intermediates" are really superior to the Michelins ... and that was the race! Michael struggled a bit, as Paul said, before he got the tire situation straightened out. It was amazing that they blew it so bad, with the wrong tire choice, and still took it all! Can you imagine the lead, if they'd put the intermediate on during that stop. But as Michael said, during the interview, they just guessed wrong ... but it worked out. |

In a nutshell, MS drove a nearly perfect race while the rest(esp. JPM & Kimi) slid/slide around the track trying to chase him. |

It was a very exciting race for sure. it seemed that Schumi had some trouble with his car during laps 3-7 (?) only because he was being passed by a few cars even though he had a great start; from 7th to 3rd. it seemed that whatver problem the car had it got corrected. I was biting my finger nails as other cars were passing him. Rubens got bumped out early in the race by Montoya so Juan Pablo had to do a penalty pass through the pit lane. Schumi came in for fuel and a tire change and they put the wrong tires on! They putr on intermediates when they should have put rain tires on!. he did one lap and came right back in for a tire change to wet tires. Montoya got held up on a 15+ second fuel fill and at one point spun out in the wet as well as other drivers. I may have misseed some of the other details, but these are the basic ones. Alot of mishaps and driving off the course. Ralf also got eliminated after hitting the tire wall and breaking his suspension. The only real condender yesterday was Kimi and he came in 2nd. |

Anyone watch the race at Indy? Schumacher started at 7th and he won. I didnt watch the whole thing but I saw he had a pretty good start, then after a few pit stops he became 1st place. Went into the pit the last time and still came out 1st and almost 30 seconds ahead? Can anyone explain what happened? I guess things happened too fast and there's a lot of confusion with the pit stops. I know most of them had 3 stops, some had 2, montoya had 4, but Schumacher had 3 too. |
