i had to hear this on the local news at 5am this morning. the car was a black 360 spider and it was torn in half. those two are really lucky to be alive. |

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Heatley and Dan Snyder were involved in an accident, the Thrashers said. Both players were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The team said that Snyder is in critical condition and is in surgery for a depressed skull fracture. Heatley is in stable condition, and the most serious of his injuries is a broken left jaw. He is being evaluated further, and WXIA-TV reported that he was conscious and talking. Police reports indicated that Heatley's black Ferrari was traveling faster than 80 mph when it struck a pillar near a condominium complex in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, CNN/SI reported. Snyder was thrown from the vehicle, according to WAGA-TV. Authorities said the car was cut in half by the crash, according to WXIA. The station reported that Heatley, who is 23 and was the NHL's 2002 rookie of the year, was driving. Thrashers President Stan Kasten held a news conference about 3 a.m. at the hospital and said the team still was planning to hold a practice at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Kasten said he expected to inform the team at practice. Snyder, a center, underwent surgery on his ankle three weeks ago and was placed on the injured list. Heatley led Atlanta with 41 goals and 89 points in 2002-03.
