I had a set of keys cut for my 328. The locksmith siad that it would be better for the lock if the key were brass since the friction would wear out the brass key rather than the innards of the lock. Seems to make sense. Rplace a cheap key rather than an expensive ignition lock. The key works just fine. |

I have found that the best place to get extra keys made for your Ferrari, is a little hardware store about 1/8 mile from the Ferrari factory. It is owned by a wonderful old German fellow who's daughter studied in San Fransisco. Hand him your keys, he takes a look and says... Ahhh Ferrari. And because I didn't have the cars outside to check the keys, He took extra time with each key to make sure they were right. Just think about how much fun you will have getting extra keys made...

David, When you get them cut, go to a real locksmith. I went to two places that had the integrity enough to say they couldn't do it (steel versus brass). It may ruin the key, but they both said it would ruin their machine. |

David, Got a few blanks from Sodacom for the 308 and had a local place cut them. Worked out great! Enjoy the Drive, Steven R. Rochlin

you can buy a blank through a dealership, but I was told that you have to have a professional locksmith cut the key, since it is made of steel and not a brass. |

Yes, the keys are regular blanks that can be put in any key machine. Sodacoms (F-Chat sponsor) has keys for sale and you can even use some of the newer keys as many are transferable between models.
