I have an '82 GTSi red/tan, but it has the stock Pioneer cassette deck. It was built in October of '81 by the stamp on the door sill. My serial # is 039513. I bought it back in June of 2000 at Foreign Cars Italia, Greensboro, N.C. Hopefully this will help you in your search.

Thanks for the input. Ed's right, I may as well be looking for Bigfoot. I think it will be fun searching around for it though. You never know. Back in 98 I decided to look for a black 308 I saw in Daytona Beach in the Summer of 83. I had taken a picture of the engine compartment that actually showed the serial # clearly. 15 years later I sat down at the computer to begin the search by matching the # with the model year. I went to the Ferrari Market Letter website to look at the sample issue and I swear the FIRST 308 I looked at was THAT VERY CAR. I absolutely could not believe it. I mean what are the odds of that happening? My search lasted all of 30 seconds, so you never know. I called the guy and had a great conversation about its history. He was actually unsure about it prior to 85 and I was able to fill in some of the blanks. He even sent me a current picture.
Anyway I am at it again so ANY help will be greatly appreciated, especially since this time around I don't have a serial #.

You may have more luck trying:

or
http://www.ferrari308.com

(I think the owners of both these sites also frequent here, so maybe the can be more help).

That car could have gone through so many changes during that period of time that no one would ever recognize it. My car was originally silver with red interior but is now Red/Tan. Happy hunting though. Kinda like looking for your first love.

I am searching for a car and need some help. I do not know the serial # but the car was at FAF in very early June of 1982 so it was sold after then.
It was a red/tan 2V. The only unique features that I remember were a Blaupunkt cassette deck with a Blaupunkt equalizer mounted below the a/c vents and some funny round black speakers that sat up in the corners of the rear window. All of this was dealer installed before the car was sold.
It was a "show" car at a consumer electronics show in Birmingham, AL on or about June 5th 1982. It was trucked down by FAF for the weekend event.
This was the first Ferrari I ever sat in when I was 13 and I think it would be a lot of fun to track it down. I have a handfull of pictures of the car. In one of them you can see the guy from FAF, but I do not know who he is. He's kinda short with light brown hair and a mustache.
Does anyone own a car, or know of one, that was sold by them back then that at least loosely fits this discription? ANY help would be appreciated.
This is going to be my new free time project so help me out if you can, everybody. Thanks.
