Wayne - Good Luck with your PPI. Yes, dealer is about 7500. The shop book rate is about 40 hours labor. As mentioned, other items may be added, like water pump, becuase they are an engine out service items and are WYT (while your there) items. As mentioned in another post, when I bought my 355 and we agreed on a price, I then said I wanted a 30K service done for free and I also wanted the factory extended warranty for free. They agreed..that was F of SFO. Agree with Frank P that dealer will back his work, however there are many able and competent independents who (in FL) charge $4500 for the same service. If you get the car, suggest you plan on doing 2 things asap....skid plates ($100) they bottom out if you run over a cigarette butt and a 3M clear bra...nose and spoiler pick up everything...much different than a P Car. Please post how the PPI went... |

Try FAI in Costa Mesa as well. Speak to Rodney they do great work and even FOC recommends them. |

I always use a dealer for a major service. If something goes wrong that causes an engine to go a dealer has the money to make the repair at their cost. An independant may not have the cash to make good on a $35k mistake. |

Wayne, I would get it done at Scottsdale Ferrari. My 355 was recently serviced there. The price at Scottsdale includes tensioners, tensioner bearings and cam seals. A lot of dealers do not include these in the price quote. They did a great job. If the water pump is needed, add another $1K. Scott |

Depends on where you live. In Northern California even the Independents are quoting $7,500 for belts, tensioners, and seals. Add a clutch and a water pump and you are at 10K my friend. The price we pay for 90 degree weather, beautiful women, and a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Which explains the question: Would you like lube with that (meaning they have you bent over and has no reference to the car) LOL. |

A 355 major should be in the $5000-$6000 range, until they find other things that need to be fixed before putting the thing back in the engine bay. Expect $1000-$2000 of additionals. |

Are you buying from a dealer? If so, see if you can build the price of the major into that? Sould help for a discount. --Dan |
