The F1 transmission isn't like a conventional automatic transmisssion.

A conventional automatic uses hydraulics to "shift" through a torgue converter (as I understand it).

The F1 is a manual transmission with the clutch and gear selector computer controlled.

You'll have to get more details from others, as I've never driven an F1, and haven't owned a car with an automatic since the Nixon era.

I am new here also, but have read the board for some time. My advice is to use the search function on this one.

PS: Think hydraulic vs. electronic

Hi, I'm new to this Ferrari chat thing. I've been reading a lot about what you guys have been posting about the F1 engine. I've never driven one, so I was just wondering how they were different from regular tiptronics they offer in average cars.
