I sat in a CART car once, didn't get to drive it. Amazingly snug; made me realize the G forces you hear about are real. I'm only 5'9" and 145 lbs and I couldn't imaging how an AJ Foyt could have fit. It's like lying in bed with your head propped up against the headboard. The pedals were as small and close as on my Europa (pre-paddle shift era)...that's about all I remember. |

Thanks Aaron, the suit is a 'replica' as well. Was quite a task to find all the right patches. Not everybody shares the same feelings about the suit and helmet as you can see from Luciano Favero' post in: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/14/286044.html?1064935067 |

Yup, drove a 91' (I believe) AGS in the South of France. If you research the archives you should find some more details as I have written about this at least on two occasions. Anyway the short is, that the seating position was very comfortable and not unlike e.g. a Skip Barber racecar. The H pattern shifting, brakes, steering, clutch were all razor sharp and precise. A LOT more precise than on anything I've ever driven. Power was endless and brutal. Same goes for the brakes. Hardest thing was to get it out of the stand still without killing the engine, but I managed. Once you're in and off and rolling, it is like heaven, feels like an armour. Again the looks are similar to smaller spec racers, but not the umpf. It is very quick and nimble on its 'feet', kinda like a Ferrari. But pictures are worth a thousand words so let's hear it from them:
Let me know if you want to see pictures of anything in particular or need more info. |

Didn't drive myself, but ran a 1997 F310B for a year in Oz for my team owner. It was an ex Schumacher car (the Villeneuve dsq car). Ch 178. Sat in it plenty etc. I'm 6ft 2". A bit tight but I could operate everything. The driver said how remarkably easy it was to drive, and that it was just like a playstation. I had plenty to do to get it going and take care of it but it was a pleasure. When he drove it, he threw it around like a rally car and had the time of his life. Unfortunately, never did many runs as noise restrictions in Oz are just tedious...the Penguins were breeding at Phillip Island when we went there, so we could only start the engine in pit lane and not use the track! Car now re-sold back to Europe. |

Describe the experience! What exactly is the seating position? It looks like you're almost fully reclined...
