as i posted on an earlier thread somewhere about the series final episode, last scene, where they wrap it all up and get into the TR and drive off into the sunset, i still think it would have been a fitting end if Crocket had just looked at Tubbs, tossed him the keys and said "You drive, I've never sat in the passenger seat"...
Nice little twist on the fact Don Johnson -never- let anyone drive -his- wheels...but, i guess Don baby was never that good at sharing...

I remember when I found out that the Daytona was a kit car on a Corvette chassis. What a bummer.

Miami Vice is my all time favorite cop show. I use to always watch it on Friday nights in the 80's. Yes the episode with Daytona chasing the white/white Countach was awesome. As I recall the Countach just blew under the toll booth gate while being chased! Hope all the episodes come out on DVD.

Yeah,I think that some of you guys may be right about the fashion trend coming back. We had some,(I think,I always wear jeans and T-shirts,so I'm no authority on fashion trends)70's stuff that was back the past few years. And,one of my younger brothers, who's a MAJOR punkrocker,since'77,is telling me that all the old, original punkbands from late 70's,early 80's are all back and touring(SexPistols,Buzzcocks,Vibrators,etc...) so it's all just a matter of time until the fashion trends follow the music, and I suppose we'll once again be seeing the 80's style,"new wave" clothes back. And,that will probably include some of that stuff. Ageed again, though, that the cars haven't gone out of style!:-)

When I went to my grade 8 graduation I wore a light pink jacket with a skinny pink tie, white pants and white shoes (no socks) so I could look like crocket! Yeah, I was cool!

Allan - remember the song that closed out the series? "Tell Me" by the late great Terry Kath. I'm only 99% sure of that as it has been a long long time.

I do have fond memories of that show, especially once they got the TR. Some of the episodes were great, the music was usually awesome (remember the "Brothers in Arms" scene?) and the guest stars were always a surprise (e.g. Ted Nugent).

I may have to tape a couple of episodes as it's been so long since I've heard one of those monosyllabic grunts that Castillo used for conversation.

Paul, 6 speed Testarossa?

Best episode is when the guy is raping one of the female cops friends and drives a white Countach. Great chase scene with Crocket in the Daytona kit chasing the Countach.

I still remember the last lines in the last episode " I wanna go where the waters warm, the drinks are cold, and i dont know the names of the players" and " I'll give you a ride in my stolen Ferrari"

Great show.

Lets not forget the show's use of a Maserati Quattroporte (usually driven by the bad guys) which was touted as the 'worlds fastest 4-door sedan' in the mid 80's

I liked the episode with Danny Sullivan when the IMSA races came to Miami.

My father, brother and I would always watch it on Friday nights and luckily I was too young to appreciate how bad the acting actually was. If you want to do something funny, watch an episode and eliminate all of Rico Tubbs' lines. You will see that it makes no difference to the story.

Hey Paul, maybe they need a Ferrari Bachelor show. They bring in Playmates and if the bachelor can hold out he wins a Ferrari...

I saw all of the episodes. Remember the one when they blew up the Daytona? My favorite episode was when Crockett was introduced to the white TR. His first comment was " 12 cylinders, 390 h.p., 6 speed......" He fell in love. Loved watching that car in motion. He drove the balls off that car in that episode.I had to get one....so I did.
They take all the good shows off TV and replace it with Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Whats up with that crap? Also Magnum PI, Tour of Duty and others.

great series... it IS getting dated though... its a hoot seeing multi-million dollar drug dealers with their exotic sports car doin whathaveyou.. the phone rings and they pick up this large bulky thing with the yard long arial... TEENAGERS have better phones now...

and those CLOTHES!!

the cars NEVER go out of style... but you cant say the same thing about those clothes...

although... if they waited a couple more years to bring it back they just might be back in...

GT

ps.. one of the early shows had Bruce Willis as a bad guy... i think it was first-season so it should be coming up again soon...

I read that the Testarossa had to be written in because McBurnie was sued by Ferrari and shut down. It happened so fast that the first episodes with the Testarossa were still shots because it wasn't registered. Great series, usually hot cars and girls.

Rumor is that the entire series may soon be out on DVD. The first couple years were great, but then the story lines when to crap.

The episode where Phil Collins drives the Jalpa is a great one.

Caused a bit of a stir over here at the time with the use of the word "wanker"

I catch the reruns whenever I can, just finished watching it. Love the shots when they are racing around in the Testarossa. Everybody had a guest spot on that show- Julia Roberts, John Lequizamo, etc.

Anyone been catching the Miami Vice reruns on Spike TV network? They just started over with the pilot episode a couple days ago. They got the "Macburnie" Daytona Spider. Lots of Young and up and coming (back then) stars making appearances. Today they had Ed O'Neill,(Al Bundy) playing a part. Baby faced Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas. Man,where did 20 years go?
