Lead-Acid batteries will keep longer if they are kept in a slow discarge mode, then fully recharged once each 30 days ( use the slow rate). In the slow discharge mode, the lead sulfate is evenly plated on the lead plates. When chargeing, the lead sulfate is dissolved back into the water to become sulfurac acid. In a continous charge mode, the lead plates can become pitted resulting in the growth of longer dendrites upon heavy discharge. ( like when you can't start or when you leave your lights on.) When a dendrite bridges to another cell, you get a dead cell, and a ten volt battery. |

Ours came in the correct length for our use on our cars. You should have around 4 feet from the Battery Tender box to the plug and then about 3 or 4 feet of cord that will go to the battery. Install the eye rings to the battery and then bring the cord out through the front of the grill. This is the way we have done it on the Dino. We attached the cord to various supports with tie wraps. We don't have a lot of cord left but it works on that car and the Dino has a much longer line run than the 355. Your other option is a splice of your own making. I don't think Battery Tender makes a longer line but you can call them and check. I thought I had a phone number but I am sorry I don't. We have 4 of these things and they really work!! |

DBP (Dilly), I just purchased a Battery Tender, but the perm. eye-hook cord is about 3 feet too short. Does Battery Tender sell an extended eye-ring cord? Any drilling involved (328) to snake the cord from battery to front grill? Thanks. |

I build my own from a kit and fitted a cigarette lighter plug. Then just plug in. |

I have the same perm connection on my 328. I simply open the front hood and plug the charger to the connector-30 seconds! |

SML We have Battery Tenders on all our cars that we don't use on a daily basis. We also have a perm. connection via the eye hook conectors. The Dino also has the battery in the front under the spare tire like the 308/328. We run the wire out from under the tire and out through the front grill of the car. You will have to get creative on your cord path but it is well worth the effort. Good Luck |

Performanceproducts.com sells the Schumacher Mighty Mite charger. Ive had the same one on my 911 for over ten years and have never had a problem. Im going to install one on my 328 as well. It attaches permanently to the battery with a supplied bracket, and has a grounded plug that you just connect to an extension cord. It comes on automatically when it senses battery drain, and turns off automatically when the battery is charged. |

The charger I bought for my Harley, that I will now use for the TR has a connection that attaches to the battery Perm with Eye connectors, then the other side has a quick connect that attaches to the cord on the charger. The charger also comes with gator clips. |

I recently purchased a battery trickle charger for my 1989 328 GTS, but must remove the spare tire, connect the alligator clips to the battery, leave the hood ajar and snake the cord through the grill to charge. Has anyone figured out a way to quickly connect the charger without the gymnastics described above? |
