Time to find another shop for your PPI, rather than the Ferrari dealer. Not worth pushing the issue. Sounds like either a p_ssing contest or conflict of issue situation. Either way, better to avoid, especially if Scottsdale Lotus, or an independant shop can do it for you.

Tim, one of those F40's isn't yours I hope? Unless you're making room for 'one very very special' car?

Hi Guys:

didnt see this post as I have been very busy. Yes I own Scottsdale Lotus. yes I can do any level of PPI you would like. we service all makes of Ferrari, Lambo, BMW, Mercedes, etc. I have all the test equipment needed - same as the F dealer. we sell more Ferrari's in 60 days than Scottsdale Ferrari will do in a year. current inventory is 3 spiders - silver, yellow and Grigio, 1 challenge- silver, 2 F40's- red, 4 360 coupes - black, titanium, red, dark red, 1 Barchetta - silver, 1 355 spider-yellow, and also have 4 other F cars inbound and one VERY VERY special car in bound.

anyway, let me know Wayne if you still need that PPI, I will give you an F-chat discount. I can probably help you with info on the seller as well. just let me know. 480-922-6242 Scottsdale Lotus. www.LotusofScottsdale.com (new site coming soon)

Wayne. Scottsdale Lotus is on the North side of town-just east of the Scottsadale Airpark.(East off of Scottsdale Rd.)Their address and phone # are; 8355 E. Raintree,Scottsdale,AZ., 480-922-6242 I haven't bought anything from them, yet. But,I have been to their place, and they seem like a professional outfit...not just some guys selling exotics to make a profit, and could care less about post purchase issues. There are a couple other exotic car shops right up the street that also always have a few Ferrari's on hand.

The strange way Scottsdale ended the inspection, didn't charge me,refused to discuss
reason etc, why makes me just SUSPECT
the worst i.e. serial# probs, frame damage etc. I"LL just pass. The routine horrors of everyday life are enough without adding a "Ferrari horror" to the mix!
Martin check your email on the 550
thanks

Wayne,
get in touch with Tim G. If need be I will give you his contact e-mail He is a part owner of Lotus of Scottsdale. He can do the compression/leakdown and PPI for you.

Reaction from FoS....things that make you go "hm?"

BTW I have the info on the 550 Maranello we discussed. The car is sitting in LA area., Newport Beach.

passing is not an irrational response. these are hardly ultra-rare cars, and red/tan is hardly a rare combo.

doody.

ps: those same sellers have a 2001 4,700 mile 550 with a $186K buy-it-now price. that'd be a neat deal!

Wayne, take the car to the Lotus dealer. They have plenty of exotic cars there including Lambos and Ferraris. I have to believe they're capable of simple PPI.

wayne - to hell with FoS. what a bozo play. fwiw, this is HARDLY the first time i've seen weird politics come up in dealing with the f dealers.

there must be other independents in phoenix - ask here for suggestions.

as for referrals, i wouldn't get a car PPI'd by anyone except a shop i researched and chose myself. too much risk in getting a dealer referral - too much backscratching. which isn't to say that the guy you end up picking won't be working with the seller in the bigger picture, but in theory you'll get good feedback on them from reputable sources like fchat.

good luck.

doody.

Impossible to determine, but at this point think I'll just walk away. I thought 90k for 8000 mile 97Spider was good deal but I smell a problem.
Think I'll revert to what my Father once told me "If in doubt-PASS"

Do any of these people ever have a conflict of interest? The reason I ask is that I bought a 355
from a dealer in Denver, Colorado. He recommended
a local Ferrari shop for the PPI. Everything went
smooth but it was always in the back of my mind whether the Ferrari guy is thinking "if I kill this deal, what is the chance of any more referrals for me?". I'm a real estate attorney and this kind of stuff happens all the time in real estate. A realtor will recommend a home inspector but the inspector knows if he kills enough deals, all his referrals will dry up. Classic conflict of interest.

Sounds like FoS are mad at the seller because he is doing wholesale and retail and, by doing the latter, is taking potential buyers away from FoS. It's probably better for an authorized dealer to do the PPI but there may also be a qualified Ferrari mechanic there. However, I would bet money that you're not getting the whole story as to why the PPI was stopped. Not that it has anything to do with the car but there is probably more between the seller and the dealer than you've been told.

Hey all I want to do is buy a good car.
I don't usually trust ANYTHING a seller tells me.
I'm just not used to being stonewalled by a Ferrari dealer after agreement was reached. He was likely to get a 6500 major service to boot?
The whole deal is screwey I just don't want to be the scewed if you catch my drift.
It is an EBAY car

OK....Scottsdale stopped it on their own.

What does a retail PPI on a 355 have to do with a different transaction on a 550 ? Are they pissed that they lost a sale ?

Sorry for asking Wayne......it's very odd to say the least.

Wayne, have you asked to speak with the manager...? They can't just stop it and not tell you why...? Hell, that'd piss me off enough to go down there...

Wayne, i, too, am confused. If they're screwing you on the PPI of a car being sold to you a by a person who's screwing them on a separate deal, then that sucks... Keep us posted on this...

If you like the car I wouldn't pass on the deal.

But I am confused a bit about your wording. I am correct in assuming that the vendor of the 355 told Scottsdale Ferrari to stop the PPI or did Scottsdale stop it on their own ? Is is because you are buying the car from them and Scottsdale is upset that they missed out on a retail deal ?

It's just not clear.....in any event....sorry you are having problems...I have dealt with Jim and this sounds very odd.

I'm trying to buy 355 Spider from company located in Phoenix. Jim at Scottsdale quiotes me prices for PPI and leakdown/compression test. Takes my credit card info at 8:50 says he will get started ASAP as I have wire ready to send to wrap up deal today. An hour later I call back to ask him to record % and compression readings on all cyls .I'm getting a 360 CS end of next year and I thought new owner would appreciate info on this car. To my sutprise he said" I have halted the inspection .I asked why? He refused to even discuss it with me and referred me to the seller. Seller says they wholesale several Ferraris to scottsdale and this basically is a "sales" generasted stoppage. He claims they are pissed that the seller is getting a "retail" PPI
while trying to wholesale them a 550.Seller
wants to take it another "qualified shop".
I'm hesitant to accept anyones else's opinion other than an authorized Ferrari dealer. Should I
tryto locate such a shop via Ferrari Chat local residents or just pass the whole deal?? He wants me to have it inspected at the Lotus dealer in Scottsdale that supposedly has a Ferrari tech. What to do? Anyone know this Lotus dealer?
