I would say the front end of the cars you drove were not toed in correctly, or your front pressures were off. I have never experienced this in any of the 360's I drove hard.

Luigi, did you have the cars in sport mode when you drove them?

Yesterday I drove a 360 Spyder with F1 tranny and a Modena 6 sp.
I felt on both cars that when pushed fairly hard into a bend the front end would skid a little bit, not understeer, just kind of "bouncing" a little bit.
Is it a common thing to 360s or was it just something isolated to the cars I drove?

I think Ferrari got itself married to the undercar Venturi's & they dont want to admit its not quite enough
My 512TR can get a little slidey in back although slicks calmed it down a lot

I was looking at on old issue of Forza Dec 2000 and they asked Johannes van Overbeek to help set up a new Challenge car (Overbeek is credited with helping BMW develop M3 ) anyway...His comment was, "There's just not enough down-force in the back. While a wing would solve the problem, its not part of Ferrari's vision for a sophisticated racing Modena. Ferrari probalby dosen't want you to know this but of the first 50 cars 12 had been signigicantly damaged in testing accidents."

I don't know what they've done since, to improve the car. But I'd think a wing would make sence for a real track car. Sounds like Ferrari is being silly.

The Modena has a very unsettleing, twitchy manner to it when pushed. The rear does not seem to want to track in a predictabel manner when hammered in anything other than a straight line. The car gets lighter than it should under braking once again in anything other than a straight line. It is in dire need of a rear spoiler to provide the downforce it is missing. The factory claims many different advances from their wind tunnel with this car. But as one who has spanked the tar out of set up 348's, 355's and 360's, I can say with no hesitation that the 355 is a much more predictable car. The 360 needs a rear spoiler, to set down the rear end.
The drivetrain of the 360 is spectacular. The torque and horsepower are astounding in a very wide rpm band. This is the main advantage over the 355. You have to be around 5500+ rpm to get the best of the 355 motor. The 360 F1 gearbox is certainly an improvment over the 355 F1 box.
I have not ever encountered any brake fade on the 360, but the material they use for the rotors are inferior. There are constant complaints on how the 360 owners are getting raped by the dealers, as they charge them $930/rotor plus labor. Since the material that Brembo uses on the 360 rotors are no good, any driver who pushes the car in an agressive manner ends up warping the rotor in as short as one track day.
Overall, I like the 360. It is well balanced, turns in well, and responds well to brake/accelerator input. I have driven 3 360 Challenge Cars very hard, as well as 4 or so street versions, all on the track. They are fun, but without a spoiler, they are too much of a handful for the average school driver, and not worth the risk involved.

Hi,
I am very interested on how well the Modena behaves when driven hard on track.
How does the handling feel, do the brakes fade...
TIA
