Do what I did...

I got my used car dealer license and sell and advertise nothing but Ferrari Used cars.
www.TheFerrariCollection.com.

The website is being worked on. Looks shitty. Look in it in a few days.
Actually have an appointment tomorrow to work on it with my webguy.

Its really just a hobby than a business. You could not live of that.

A Ferrari dealer cannot sell enough new cars to support a profit. Back in 1990, a friend of mine by the name of Tony Zarcone worked in sales at Classic Ferrari in Dallas said that each store has a certain allotment of cars per year. I asked him on Ferraris per year & he would not even give me that information. It's only determined by FNA on how many cars will be built for the US & how many you sold the year before. You can make money off of used cars, but not everyone wants to mess with pre owned. Remember when a 1990 TR was going for $300,000+? Dealers were only selling at MSRP & most customers had to wait a year or more for there car to arrive. People that had them at the time would go pick their new car then sell it the next day or or sell their places in line for upcoming delivery. The buyers market is only less than 1% for Ferrari. Everyone wants one but not every can afford one, especially the maintenance. New Ferrari customers sold quickly after beating up there 348s & TR's when the 15,000 service was due. You can't treat the car like a Corvette. The last time I talked to Tony he was working as the GSM of a Chevrolet dealership in Houston,TX.

In some cases you have to offer special "incentives" to factory distributors to get the best inventory and volume. This is all I will say online.

I guess I'm being naive about the whole thing....I'm really into Ferrari's and naturally, besides racing, how else to extend your passion for such cars....oh well...I guess you would do better selling regular chevys and hondas since they sell more in volume and probably have pretty sweet deals straight from the factory in terms of dealer incentives....any other headaches when it comes to getting in to a Ferrari dealership? Can you guys clarify the "too much politics"?

Matt is right. There is no money to be made just being a Ferrari dealer. Too many headaches to worry about. You will only make money with your service department & thats only if they are good at what they do. Your better off getting a Honda or Chevrolet franchise. Check the back of Automotive Dealership News if anyone is selling a franchise. Good luck.

Forget about it.....it will never happen. Way too much politics involved.

Does anyone know how to get a Ferrari Dealership started...Initial investment, certifications, licensing, etc. etc.? I am just curious and I may want to pursue this in the future since there is no dealership where I live.

Thanks in advance for your input
