I want to personally thank everyone on this board for giving me your feedback on my cracked headers. I had two former Ferrari technicians who worked in Ferrari Of Washington's race shop (now work elsewhere) look at my headers and they confirmed that they can in fact be welded at minimal cost. It seems FNA has know about cracked headers on F355's and issued several service bulletins on the problem and in some cases replaced the headers free of charge. Since my car is a Challenge car and more than 5 years old they have stated they will not replace them. They have also forbidden authorized Ferrari dealers from welding the headers on any F355. Some dealers have apparently ingnored this and had headers welded. Mine have been welded previsouly in a different area but it appears these new cracks can also be welded. Thanks again for the help and information on alternative places to get new headers. Hopefully I won't need them. Regards, Jon P. Kofod |

Try Partsourcenet.com for replacements. They say they are the exclusive Tubi mailorder distributor. |

Ask Peter GT4, He is a professional welder by trade. If anyone knows he does. |

Federal law requires Ferrari to warranty the emissions system, including the exhaust system, for 5 years or 50,000 mi. You are SOL on that front. |

Anyone else heard that FNA doesn't allow it's dealers to weld 355 headers. I have also been told to check and see if the headers might be covered under warranty. Someone else I talked to thought that there is a 7 year warranty on emmissions equipment on F355's and that headers were covered. Since my car is a Challenge car this may not apply, but has anyone else heard this story. Thanks, Jon |

Bill, The car is at Ferrari of Wash. I will be going in on Monday morning to see how bad the damage is and get some digital photos. Will post the pics Monday afternoon. Regards, Jon |

Jon, Any possibility you could post a picture of the cracked area and the installation? Are the headers stainless steel? Did they TIG weld them? When you bolt them up to the heads, are they under a mechanical load? Is there any flex in the exhaust system to accomodate movement of the engine when it is under load or is everything rigid? Bill |

Nope not kidding! $3200 was the quote. These are Challenge headers not the stock ones from a street 355. We welded them twice and they continued to crack. Yes! Bill they are located near the cylinder head flange and also a few further back. |

Jon, What happened when they tried to weld them? Where are the cracks, at the cylinder head flange? Bill |

I cracked the headers on my 355 C. Anyone know where I can get headers other than from FNA. Ferrari of Washington wants $3200 for new headers. Any of you know some race shops that might sell them. Mine cannot be welded (already tried it!) Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 C #23 |
