To risk to attempt to remove the emblems would far out weigh the risk to clean out the wax from around them. The posibility of a deep scratch to the paint or breaking one of them is a higher probability than harming the paint with a soft brush. You can also use a flat paint brush called a Fitch, which can be found in any craft store. |

Use a soft toothbrush or your wife's, which ever is handiest. |

Yes they do just bolt on, I do take mine off for cleaning/wax. The rear ones on the 308/328 are the most trouble because you have to remove the lining from the trunk. The yak brush would be neat |

Interesting comments, but the question remains...to expidite the waxing job, is it possible to remove the "badges"? Are they bolted on and only require a quick unscrewing, or am I asking for trouble by trying to remove and risking damage? In addition, what do you do re: wax in the stone chips that are too small to paint...they "capture" the wax making it look like the car has dandruff. Any help (without the jokes, is greatly appreciated) |

Edster, I think you've got something there! Could be time to dump your career as an automotive tech and dive right into the detailing biz. So where did you find the yak hair? |

Hey Ed, You had better make some of those up for the ladies. It looks like it could get the job done. You may have a winner here. Try Fredericks' of Hollywood, they would be a sure buyer for this. |

ED, you just gave me my first real belly laugh since 9/11 - Ed you and the chat guys and gals are true friends foever. I still want to thank again - Paul for taking the time out (during a hurricane in the gulf!) to call me up and see if I was ok and let the chat know I made it. You all are the best. Wax on the emblems? I drive my Ferrari's over to the dentist and the hygenist uses floss, pick and water jet to clean it out... and yes it is covered under my insurance since I have my ferrari listed on my dental health policy ( what do you think Solly? combining vocation with avocation!) |

After litterly minutes of research I was able to come up with the easiest and safest way to remove the wax from around the emblems. My invention will easily lift out the dreaded wax with no damage at all. It uses the little known powers of the hair from the Testicles of the rare Pink Bolivian Spam Yak and a voltage storage unit in conjunction with a 1957 Hoover vacuum from Claudine Darlings yard sale. The voltage produced and sent through the Yak hair to the negatively charged car body simply attracts the unwanted wax into the Yak hair where it is safely vacuumed up and can be disposed of or recycled. Attachments are available for Naval Lint and Bikini lines. This unit cannot be used on Fiberglass 308s or Deloreans as severe cuticle damage could occur. Please let me know how many to produce as supplies of the Yak hair will be diminished as soon as PETA finds out about this. Thanks. |

BTW, check out those pearly whites in Ed's profile. Ed actually uses a mohair toothbrush, no nylon bristles in Ed's medicine cabinet. And the mohair toothbrush is accepted and highly recommended by both the American Dental Assoc (ADA) as well as the International Ferrari Badge Area Detailing Club (IFBADC). Right Ed? |

My freind uses that on his black camaro, it looks rally good, the only problem he had was using it when it was really humid, the wax wouldnt come off and it looked like overspray on the car for some reason, a clay bar took this off easily. It is anly available through the website bc the guys who own it dont want to sell it in stores or something. |

Ed, you've been holding your feelings back from us way too long on this site. I think it's time you start telling us how you really feel about subjects like this. Good thing you've only had your 308 a couple of years. You'd better be careful... in a few more years, you just might have a hole back there by the badges from rubbing with that toothbrush! BTW, after 35 years, maybe it's time for a new toothbrush. You crack me up. :-) |

Geeze, I did not realize that useing a SOFT tooth brush for the past 35 years to remove wax was causing so much damage. I would now have to recomend a complete disassembly of the vehicle to properly wax the car. I keep forgetting that this is Ferrari chat and I am supposed to look for the most Rube Goldberg way to do things. |

I do not agree to do the job on paint with a toothbrush. Nylon may scratch. Just do it with a soft brush and very slowly. Do not be in a hurry. I sometimes do it with a piece of soft cotton on the top of a toothpick. Be prepared for a long time job if you want it perfect. |

I'm in the process of waxing my 328 and noticed prior wax jobs resulted in wax residue between "Ferrari" and "328 GTS" badges. Is there a safe way to remove the badges pre-waxing, or should I just get out my Q-tip? |
