I'm in the wholesale lumber business and know all about this duty. What it is, is some American lumber companies trying to restrict imports to artificially hike up lumber prices. The interesting thing is that since the duty and now 'anti dumping' penalty, prices just bounced from 10 year lows! The US Government should stop restrictive trade. Duties are bad for the consumer. Canfor, a Canadian corp. has just sued the US for 250 million for violating the free trade agreement. We all here support them and hope they win!

Guys, Don't make such a big deal about this. Canada as well as other democratic nations will support the U.S. and Vise-Versa. We need each other especially now. If we don't support each other the terrorist will invade each and every one of our free societys and destroy them from within. The time is now, to unite and defeat these bastards before they get anymore of a hold in our countries. Yes Canada needs us and we need them. Now is not the time to pick the "flyshit out of the pepper." Unite and win. It is essential.

Don't interpret that analogy wrong, I don't mean that Canadiens are sub-US, I'm just talking in a militarial sense the difference between the two nations.

To start so all pro-Canadian, Canadians, pacifists, and people that like to fight here on FC (yes you know who you are, you don't talk about cars at all but work your way out of the cracks for world issue fights):I don't think we should push any drastic changes on Canada regarding trading, it's stupid because they're very important to us, very important as we all know.

BUT who's gonna protect them if they screw us over and put under our industries under (300% tariffs?)???? I'm not gonna say I agree with it, but the lion tamer can poke the lion as many damn times as he wants.

I live in the southern part of the USA, but I've traveled to Canada several times. Not only have these trips been uniformly enjoyable, but I have always been impressed with the people and the country.

As a Canadian, I've found that the majority of Americans simply are ignorant to the economic and political importance of Canada. Canada is America's largest trading partner, and few Americans know it. Our economies are forever linked. This was an interesting article Christian.
