Solly;
yes I will be there!
I actually rescheduled my snowboard vacation just for that. There is another track and concourse date the following weekend. ITALIAFEST. Not just F-cars but all italian. Very nice event. Great setting in Delray Beach.

Track is for everyone. I loved my first time. Yes, do the driving school if you have a chance. It gives you lots of points that you never thought of before.
Then it is all about having fun and finding your own mistakes. There is not one God damn round that I do not find myself making tons of mistakes. too fast, too slow, too early in too this or that. It is more about you and learning your cars ability. It is not a race with who comes in first. You win, no matter what. Even my wife loved it.
If you go to Cavallino, they have driving school. If you just want to go and have fun you can do that too in the Touring category. But do it for fun!

Christian which Canadian company have you used? I may need to ship a car down to the US and bring another up. Anyone ever gone from Toronto to Florida?

William,

Track or not to track? GT or Open class? I'm comfortable at speed (took Skip Barber's Racing School, Driving School, and advanced car control schools, and I qualify for an SCCA license), but is this really where I want to be?

Are other drivers generally good enough not to make mistakes? I noticed SCCA license or driving school requirement only for Open class-are the GT drivers generally good enough to avoid stupid mistakes?

What do you suggest?

looks like decisions have been made, but for sake of completeness, let me put in a plug for http://www.enclosedvehicletransport.com/ . they hauled my 996TT from alabama to massachusetts. stellar people. tiny shop. took better care of the car than i ever would have (and i'm totally anal retentive!).

on the "clients vehicles" page that's my TT at the bottom right and my buddy's M3 convertible one row up all the way to the left. kevin was able to coordinate to haul them both together to our office.

doody.

The track stuff is William's department, he can tell you about the Moroso track. I have yet to take my TR on the track. Serious driving school attendance will occur before I do (plan on doing it next Spring here in Maryland). I have seen Dinos on the track. It ain't a power issue its a ferrari thing and they are all welcome. But you might want to stay out of the red group (ie. the psycho group according to William) Those guys are just crazy!!!! Great drivers though but crazy -- you sort have to be to be cornering at 90 and doing 150 plus on the straights!!!

Michael,

Thank you for your response. Sounds like Horseless Carriage is the way to go. Looking forward to meeting you at Cavallino. Love to join you guys on Saturday.

Are any of you taking your cars out on the track? Does it make sense to take out an underpowered Dino against all the v-12's and v-8's?

Let me know details. Thanks.

Steven,

I echo your remarks about Shelton and Bud Root. He has helped several times with finding stuff for my car even though I have yet to buy a car from them. But the next one for sure. In fact he has Countach there that I have looked at (hey, William pull my arm hard enough and I might just bite)

I will also be at Cavallino. William is also and Martin348 will also be there. Also Edgar and his brother from Europe. We are having a dinner party at a restaurant on that Saturday (William's Birthday). You are welcome to join us. Most likely will reserve under the Ferrarichat name (Rob, please don't sue us for name infringment :) )

I use Horseless carriage. $998 from Bethesda, MD to Ft. Lauderdale. I have used them several times for my TR and they have been great everytime.

William,

Was at Shelton Ferrari in Ft. Lauderdale today, and they convinced me to come to the Cavallino. They are recommending Horseless Carriage for shipping. Who did you finally decide on? What rate from CT to Palm Beach?

Looks like I will meet you there. Anyone else going from this group?

BTW, people at Shelton (Bud Root) EXTREMELY nice. Gave me the whole tour, spent some time with me, and already knew they didn't have the car I wanted. What a change from some of the local dealers in the Northeast.

Make sure to get quotes from all these carriers. I just logged into Passport and the transport I just did is $150 more than what I paid with Horseless. This is just an approx quote though. You gotta call all of them, sorry!

I have use Horseless Carrige once and Intercity Line 3 times. The service is the same but Intercity's price was a little better. I've used Intercity to transport my TR, 348SS and XKR

8 or 9 years ago I bought my first Ferrari (308 GTSI) and had it shipped from LA to my home by Horseless Carriage....1500 or so miles away. It took over one month to arrive and was damaged....a 60's Corvette was backed right up over the top of the front end....this was just the start of the whole ordeal. Horseless Carriage's insurance company was a complete POS....they pretty much wanted to bondo up the front end and call it good...after a HUGE battle they finally agreed to fix it right....I was sick from dealing with this for 2 months!!

I have had nothing but excellent service from Reliable Carriers, 800.528.5709 speak to Al. Used them on 3 occasions recently, very precious cargo, all vehicles were well cared for and shipped incredibly fast. Not affiliated, no kickback, just happy to pass on a great resource.

Passport is $1500+ EACH way
Horseless wants $1250 each way.
