I think Ferrari will continue with their arrogant attitude. The old saying,"Don't rest on your laurels" is a wise one but in this case Ferrari banks on the Enzo legend to carry them. As long as the excitment of the name, the timeless designs, and good performance continue Ferrari will be a much sought after unique sports car in the eyes of the world. Whether we like it or not. "And we do like it, don't we?"

Maybe the most beautifull race car to come out of the USA the COBRA (blue) racer car should have been developed into the USA version of Ferrari but that never happened. Iam thinking out load here but my comparision hopefully will not happen to the arrogent Ferrari brand.

This topic is just sad to follow but so true. I will always hold a smile on my face for Ferrari ownership but the Marketing department for FNA should take notice soon or the car customer will look elsewhere for pleasure driving. Iam so thankfull for alternative service outlets in Dallas when the time come to pull the trigger on a lifelong dream(328). Maybe this is one of the reasons for F1 (Ferrari1) lack of interest in the general US public vs. other motorsports.

I cant say they treat me poorly at Miller because they dont even talk to me. I think the one time they talked to anyone i went there with was when i was getting my audi serviced down the road and my freind was wearing an exspensive suit with a nice watch bc he had just come from some function. I think thats crap. I have only seen one guy wearing a suit drving a ferrari and that was last night (coolest guy ever, with a hot daughter :)) but that was only because he was going to some dinner or something at a school nearby. At WWoC on the on the other hand, i thikn the salesmen know that someday i will be in the market for one, so they treat me well. Last time i went i was talking to some guy for like 15 mins about alot of things like where i was applying to college and if the yellow F355 to the right was in an accicent because nothing lined up on it. I thouhg ti heard some negative things about that place once, can anyone refresh my memory.

My wife & I are getting ready to buy our 1st Ferrari here in Scottsdale, AZ. I have talked to or visited a couple of dealers (including Scottsdale Ferrari) with the sole purpose of seeing how I am treated and what my impressions are of the facilities/staff. Scottsdale Ferrari was arrogant. Another unnamed shop seemed... a bit slimey.

I walked out of Scottsdale Lotus with a good feeling. I went in with my 2 kids (2 & 4) and the sales manager took his time with me and explained their operation. He showed me some cars that would be in my price range, he seemed really straight forward. I have since run into a F355 owner who confirmed my feelings for Scottsdale Lotus. I will be in touch with them when the time comes.

To tie this into the conversation, I will still be buying a Ferrari, but it won't be through a FNA authorised dealer. They don't want my business and I don't want their attitude.

About two years ago I stopped by San Francisco Ferrari with my kids after a soccer game. We were driving a Suburban which was only a few months old. Sales persons walked by me several time without even a "Hello", or "How are you?".

There is no excuse for rudeness. When I do purchase a Ferrari, it is highly unlikely it will be from them.

If you really wanted to see a joke, you should have had a Bricklin franchise. I was the G.M. of a dealership where the owner had to have that wonderful new sports car that was going to take the sports world by surprise. Talk about pissed off customers.

Fiat was arrogant all the way until the end of their tenure in the US. I was the Service Director at a GM dealership which also had Fiat. It is no wonder they are not over here anymore. Their cars were crap and they acted like you were the looser if you did not buy one. The Warranty was useless and the customer relations were insane. If I wanted to run a company in the ground I would take lessons from Fiat. I hope they are smarter now.

Unbridled success where demand outstrips supply=ARROGANCE!(and they intentionally keep supply limited).
If /when there is a decrease in demand for whatever economic reason FNA's arrogance will melt.Wait until the Maserati's hit the Ferrari showroom floors-I predict there will be butt-kissing then.

Christian,

I actually had good experiences with BMW US with their correspondence via email through their internet sales manager. BMW sent me nice brochures and the local dealership called me a day after the email answering all my questions and even pitched DINAN products that can be installed on an M3 at their dealership after they take delivery of the M3. 4-6 months....waiting list for a new one....yikes

I got a 24 hr reply from Ferrari of Orange County....linked from FNA website...I was suprised they answered so soon. They answered my questions generally and were polite but insisted that I call them or visit them....I guess to do the sales pitch and weed out the dreamers. Okay with me. I think I may go there to purchase my pre owned 360 F1

I had the same problem as Ron at FOD. When I was shopping, I went and told them I wanted a 308QV, they essentially laughed me out of there. "We haven't had one of those in 18 months..." Sorry I didn't meet their standards as a buyer! But it was only my first Ferrari, not my last.

Michael,

If I recall correctly, I e-mailed them directly from their website. Perhaps they are not as good responding to e-mails in Britain.

Regards.

I can't say I share the same problem with you... I have emailed FNA before about a summer job/internship and they got back within a week- with an extensive email.

You guys need to buy a Lotus. :-) The turboesprit list on Yahoo has four regular contributers from Lotus Cars USA. Two field engineers and two parts guys. I've sent a number of e-mails to one of the field engineers and he always responds promptly. I'm very suprised to hear that Howie didn't get a response from Lotus. They really go out of their way for their customers.

I have to contact Pagani, He is Argentine & I am 1/2.

I contacted FNA when I was looking for my 512TR. I wanted an azzuro blue car. FNA did get back to me stating they never built an azzuro blue 512TR for the US. a few years later I found 3 cars in that color. Oh well, at least they got back to me

I've also had problems receiving internet answers from my local Ferrari Dealer. They are more than helpful though when I call. Also, Pagani was very courteous in answering my questions and also invited me to visit their factory. I guess they're just hungrier than the rest in getting their business up and running.

At one time I worked at a major exotic dealership
located in Miami. They had setup a pretty elaborate website, complete with feedback and e-mail forms. I don't recall ever seeing an employee printing out or answering e-mails. Most dealers still do not believe that the Internet as an integral tool. However, some have, and have dedicated people, or "Internet Sales Managers" who sit in front of the screen answering sales inquiries all day long.

Dealers should always get off their behind and show the car with a smile, because even if the person really isn't a buyer now, he will remember how well he was treated when the time comes.

Finally, I too e-mailed FNA several times in the past - never ever received a reply. Same thing happened with Lamborghini and Lotus. The only exotic firm that answered my e-mail was Pagani. GO figure.

David, I agree with you to a point. It's like the old expression" You never know how much money a man has in his pocket." If those salesman are too lazy to get up off of their dead ass to sell a car then let them be dissappointed. That's what selling cars is all about, other then for the pre-madonna sales people.

I wonder if so many of the Ferrari dealers have had so many dreamers going through their dealership that they have just gotten really jaded towards their customers. I would imagine it gets really tiresome answering questions and showing cars to people who probably are not going to end up buying them. It is certainly no excuse for poor customer service, especially when one is actually trying to buy a Ferrari. The other thing that they should recognize is that I was one of those dreamers at one point.

I tried to email the Dallas Ferrari Dealer about my interest in a 328 and that I lived in Dallas. 3 questions of serious nature. Nothing in return? They won't service my car when I purchase and I will remember.

Enzo said the same thing about the $400k F40, "you can have any color as long as it's red." I think Ferrari will make a movement to be a little better in the future cause their market is going in the dumps as compared to what it was a year ago.

What can we do to change FNA. Nothing. Not buy their products? Where else can you get a new Ferrari? It's just like the old saying, "take it or leave it," and that sums up their attitude. Once Henry Ford said "You can have any color in the rainbow on your car as long as it is black." Unfortunately they are in that position because they are unique and they are the name,"FERRARI".

Quit buying their products. They have a 2 year wait for a car. Why should they care. Fiat and Ferrari have always had this attitude that they are doing you a favor to sell you a car.

In recent months I have contacted BMW Canada about 4 times, always used their standard information request form - I got my answer 2 to 3 days later. I was thinking about buying a 1999 M3 off ebay and emailed BMW a bunch of "stupid" questions. All answered within 2 days inc. a fax with states compliance etc. etc. Converting the odomoter from miles to km. No problem, the dealer will do it for free, just SW.

And FNA - no answer at all, doesn't matter what you ask. Why? I can't understand that. Really. What can we do.
