Had answer from a person in Switzerland on this.... They indicate with the turn signals. I guess I just didn't hit all the possible combinations of levers and switches to find this.

Those are side marker lights, they should come on before, or when the headlights come on. If they don't, it could be a blown fuse. If the fuse is okay, it could be like my GT4 and the relay is malfunctioning. The relay panel is located in the passenger's foot well in my GT4, it could be in the same location in the 328. They are more than likely Bosch relays which are readily avaliable in major car-part stores.

How and when do the small round orange sidemarker lights in front of the doors come on??
