Thanks everyone for their input! I will check out the ItalianCarParts site. I've searched that site before for various parts. I also agree that the paint job would be more thorough if I took the manifold off, but it's just a couple small areas where the paint is flaking off. I'm just trying to explore all options before removing the manifold.

Looking at the manifold, it looks like you need to remove the entire manifold including the intake runners. I know there are other threads on this site for removing the manifold, now I have the fun task of finding them...

sorry, I was taking about the head covers....

ModMan did a great conversion on his air box for the 348. Look at that picture.

Greg,

You can check out "ItalianCarParts.com" using the following link http://www.italiancarparts.com/Paints-Coatings/Paints-Coatings.html. I haven't used their products, but I remembered seeing some paint products on their website.

The intake manifold as well as the valve covers do not really get that hot. I used regular Krylon on mine with excellent results.

You have no idea how many times I look at it and want to repaint the intake mani. I have an 84 as well Greg. Has anyone done this before?

You would definately want to use something "high heat". I think you'll get a better job taking it off and repainting the whole thing.

very good question.
I was wondering about that too.
Probably should have had them refinished when I had the engine out. Sh*t.
I guess you could use brake caliper paint but then that will likely not be the same color.
Maybe talk to a body shop guy if they can mix a high heat resistant paint. if that exists.

Does anyone know if you can buy the red paint for the 308 QV intake manifold so you can touch-up some of the pealing areas without having to remove the intake manifold?

Thanks...
