"Yamaha built with thier F1 engine, black car, center seating position." I was waiting to pick up one of those used. I guess they never got off the gournd? Very cool car! |

Does anyone remember the car Yamaha built with thier F1 engine. The pictures I remember were a black car, center seating position. I think that would be a pretty cool car for the dream garage. |

Wow! I've really enjoyed the lists of cars you all suggested, and I'm surprised by the diversity (Cheetah - what a great looking car) When I started this is was as a bit of fun, and it has now raised an interesting subject - to collect or not. I think I agree with those comments about not appreciating fine cars if you have too many, but I doubt that I'll find out for real, as I only ever have one "Toy" at a time, (Westfield 7 SEi, followed by 911 Carrera, and now a 308 GT4). Budget constraints and the time you have to set aside for looking after a classic car even if you don't maintain it yourself would probably make it impractical to have more than 1 at a time for me. As a family we have 3 cars, the GT4, and a couple of everyday drivers, so I liked the 3 car challenge, and have tried to be more realistic in compiling my list than the original "dream garage" list. (so only 1 classic...) I think mine would be: 1. The classic car - 250SWB 2. The family car - Maserati quattroporte 3. The everyday driver - Porsche 911 As with my current cars, I would probably swap each car every 2 or 3 years, though I wonder whether you would ever want to change a 250SWB? |

Not counting daily drivers, like my 740 or X5, I think the big three in my garage are pretty good. They are... 1959 Corvette, the classic american sports car. 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB/2, my dream car. 1995 Ferrari 355 GTB, my "everyday" Ferrari. While it is possible to spend more (or lots and lots more) I think my three toy cars are a pretty good mix of history, practicality, and performance. But if money were no object, the list would probably look like this. 275 GTB/4 (2 cams should not cost $150K) 360 Spyder 250 TR (always wanted to try vintage racing) |

As fun as it is to dream and say I'd want this car and that one... I'd probably end up having only two or three cars at one time from now on. A daily driver, my GT4 and MAYBE a race car (Vintage). As much as I want a V-12 Ferrari, owning two Ferraris at the same time - for me - would be economically impossible and I can't let go of my GT4, after all that I've done to the car, I've become too attached to it. So I couldn't trade it in for another one. Maybe it has something to do with that "soul" thing that was talked about awhile ago... The money that could've bought me a second Ferrari is being set aside for retirement at 55 or earlier and that's more important to me. One Ferrari is good enough! |

The only car that I really want now is a 550 Maranello because it would compliment the light, quick 308 (which I'll never sell), especially after I'm done with working on it this winter. I would like to get my dad a C6 Vette when it comes out, that's the first car I'm gonna buy when I get a good job, I figure I owe the old man and he hasn't had a sports car in years because he doesn't really need one, he just thinks too much sometimes and doesn't go with emotions. Cars I would like to purchase someday (I just wouldn't have a collection, I guess one could potentially form inadvertently depending on success, but I wouldn't go out buying cars for a collection, each car should be special to me and have lists of memories that go along with it): 550 F40 355 Fantuzzi bodied 250 Testarossa (Ferrari had him do it for racing because of the problems with front end lift with the original 250 TRs) Someday... |

Well fellas, we all love cars weather the list is high or low but I learned it is hard to appreciate what you have if you have too much so I think realistically. Now name only 3 cars you would choose for the next 5 years. I chose 3, one for luxury one for sports, one for utility. I know there are some of you guys that want or can have more and I've been doing that for the last 8 years and it sucks, some cars are getting uglier or worse for upgrading and you regret selling what you had. But when it comes to cars I believe in getting the best model car you can possibly afford on each type of vehicle so you don't regret it later. How about choosing only 2 cars? or only 1.. I know I know we all want more but hey I didn't start this subject so let's continue.. Peace... |

Mark, That is funny you say that as I was thinking the same thing today while I was driving my 308. I thought how much I enjoyed the car but if I had a 355 sitting it the garage also would I really drive the 308 that much? And if I had a few more then I am just driving the different ones to make sure they don't sit around. Now granted maybe if I was in Williams position with a nice stable of cars my thinking would be different. Also Willis, I would say a Modena is high profile no matter what color it comes it. I saw one the other day on the street and that is one nice looking car! |

Mark, What you say is true. I have other cars in my collection, but there are times I just want to drive my Toyota V/6 Camry wagon, which we use around the house for utility purposes. Sometimes a hamburger works where a steak won't do. |

These days, it's probably a good idea to keep a lower profile. That's one reason why I ordered my Modena in black. People still notice the car but not overt as a red one. I think keeping a small collection of cars (maybe just 3 really good ones)is enough. Too many cars and you'll wind up not knowing what to do with them all (think of Sultan of Brunei). For me, I'd have to add a classic V12, Like a Daytona, and a track/street supercar, perhaps the F40, to balance out the modern 360 Modena. |

I think the guy is a genius. Sometimes its good not to attract attention to yourself. Back 1986 there was someone here in Ft Worth that had a 1981 White Lambo 5000 & a black right hand steering 308 GTS. This guy said he was a song writer that went around throwing money away & ended up getting himself kidnapped. He ended up hiring a full time ex TCU football player as a bodyguard until the oil (daddy's) money ran out. |

I knew a guy in Clearwater Florida that drove around in a VW bug and used his polarid camera to snap photos of used cars for sale. He had dreams of writing one of these list like you guys are making up. Then a funny thing happened... his little rag of used cars for sale took off and he sold the company for millions of dollars (ever hear of the Auto Trader?) anyway our local hometown sucess story went out and bought his ten dreams cars... Ferrari, Lambo, Lutos, P-cars I see him a year later hitting some golf balls at the range and guess what he's driving? White crappy mini van. LOL Here's my question... You work hard and finaly save enough money to buy your dream 355 for example. You spend the next 7 years in love with your accomplishment and getting great joy of your car. Or you win the lottery, buy ten cars and end up driving a mini van around town because the big pile of cars in your collection are none as special as that guy that only has one. What do you guys (gals?) think about this? |

I'm pretty new to this board, so I apologise if this one has already been done to death, and I know its a bit of a childish subject but I am very interested to know what cars would represent a dream garage of ROAD CARS to Ferrari owners. I'd love to know about which Non- Ferraris would be included as well. My choice of 10 (this week) in no particular order Ferrari 250 SWB - the ultimate dual purpose car and the best looking Ferrari of all in my humble opinion Lancia Stratos - Unique and wonderful to look at. The 70's on wheels! Lamborghini Countach 5000QV - (No wing) The most outrageous car ever designed Lotus Esprit S1 - Just love the way it looks (may also be something to do with Mr Bond) Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 - Always loved 911s, and this is supposed to be the best of them Caterham Super 7 - Road going Go-kart Ferrari 308 GTBQV - Looks again I'm afraid, and as a child of the 70's even better looking to my eyes than a Dino (run for cover...) Maserati Sebring - The classic Maserati, just so elegant BMW 2002 (preferably a Turbo) - I know it looks out of place in this company, but I wanted one of these since my uncle took me for a ride in his in Rome (in about 1976) Ferrari 250 California - a 250 and a drop top - what can I say! I know some ouf you guys may already have fulfilled your dreams, but I look forward to seeing your choices! |
