Paul, I did VIR (full course) for the first time this past April with the Audi club. My off road excursion at Summit Point (turn 10) the week before meant I had to bring my Audi Avant, which was not much fun. My BMW track car was also in the shop. I really want to do VIR in the Challenge car next year. Hope to see you there. Since your car had the number first I will just add a "1" in front (did this at the FOW event as well). See the "Sydney Australia" thread on this board regarding a clean race car and the issue of new wax. Looks like we got a pretty good group for March. Regards, Jon P. Kofod |

So far, we've had 12 FC members write in to support a spring get-together. I know of a couple of other Ferrari owners in Fredricksburg and I'm gona try to get them to come on over (and to subscribe to FC!) This is going to be a lot of fun. I'll keep everyone up to date on the plans for getting together. |

Greg ! Your idea to get together has taken off like a 288GTO ! I am looking forward to this very much. Jon, your car looks great ! Fresh wax? We need to get you to VIR in the spring. It will be a longer drive but it is such a great facility. You and I need to play rock/paper/sissors for the number 23. My car was raced in the Challenge series by the previous owner under #23. I kept the number for nostalgia sake. The Boars Head Inn is a great choice.

Greg, I know Paul through this chat forum. We both had our cars at the FCA event at Summit Point back in October. I had planned to introduce myself and find out more about Paul's car but he was only there the first day (2-day event). Both Paul's and my car where the two loudest Challenge cars. I found out a week later I had cracked headers and that the noise nanny's at Summit Point claimed that I was way over their 103 db level (I was actually at 116-118). I am sure Paul's car was as loud. But hey I never got more complements about the sound than that event. Look forward to the get together and meeting everyone next March. Regards, Jon P. Kofod |

I sounds as though we have a date and place set for March 16 - 17 (Saturday / Sunday) at the Boars Head Inn in Charlottesville. Sometime in January, I'll send out a formal announcement of the date and place. I'll also contact the Boars Head Inn and let them know we will be coming and to check on the parking issue and special rates. By the way, great looking car Jon! You and Paul Prideaux need to get together. He races his '97 355 Challenge car at VIR and I work there on weekends doing F&C. |

Chris, I do somewhere between 10-15 track events per year, most at Summit Point, VIR, Mid-Ohio, and Watkins Glen. Technically, I could have left it street legal (can only be done to 1995 models) but I gained a few HP taking off all the emissions stuff and it sounds much better as well. Regards, Jon |

Chris, Great hearing from you! Unfortunetally my car is no longer street legal as it was converted to a Challenge car this past winter. Maybe if we all get together in the spring I can catch a ride in yours. Regards, Jon P. Kofod F355 Challenge #23

Jon Kofod: Yeah, that's me. Actually the information you gave me about Ferraris helped me find a good example. I learned a lot from our phone conversation and you probably helped me really get involved with Ferraris. You'll have to drop me a line when you are out with yours and maybe we can meet up. Chris |

If Charlottesville is the location chosen, I would vote for the Boars Head. Keswick Hall is great, but the resturant does require jackets and ties. It's only practical if everyone is going to stay over night. We can be a bit more boisterous at the Boars Head. |

I think I can safely say for the group that no Ferrari needed but you better love the cars or else you will be shot on site -- no questions asked. |

Boars Head Inn is a good selection. I also like Paris, VA as well. The roads are windy with plenty of hills, and the scenery is just as nice. I do not know too many good locations, as I just recently moved into this state (currently reside in Sterling, N VA), and am fairly new as a member on FerrariChat, therefore my input is limited, however when the meeting place has been decided, I really have no complaints on the location, within reason. Sticking in the central part of VA is a great idea as well. I hope to get the chance to meet with you all. Is it a necessity to bring a Ferrari to go with the group? Please keep me informed. Thanks. I guess my vote would probably go for the Boars Head Inn, just to ensure we accommodate all budgets. I'm sure the food and accommodations should be more than acceptable...but if the preference is for Keswick, then I'm game. |

Keswick is definitely a step up. Its less of "casual" place that why I did not say it but come to think of it Ferraris out front would just make them even better.... A lot more expensive but I'm game if you guys are. |

I'm quite familiar with the Boars Head Inn. It's run by UVA and the accomidations (if anyone is interested in a room) and food are above average. I've run several events there, and I'm sure we could get them to provide a reserved parking area. Keswick Hall is a step up (maybe several steps) from the Boars Head. It's a 5 star hotel and has an excellent resturant. This woud be in the very expensive catagory. Another option would be the CC I belong to, located just outside of C'ville. No rooms, the food is OK, and I'm sure I could get us reserved parking for as many cars as necessary. Regarding a driving route, there is Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains, several vineyards that could be toured and 3 dead presidents homes (Jefferson, Monroe and Madison). The roads have lots of curves and the scenery is beautiful, especially in the spring. |

The Boars Head Inn looks like a wonderful place to have this get-together. From their website, they are inviting various regional wineries to showcase their wines. For the weekend of March 15 - 17, they are showcasing "Jefferson Vineyards". For these weekends, they claim to have some special packages running, although their website didn't hit the specifics. If this place gets the votes, we can contact them and let them know that many Ferrari's will be present. They may want to advertise this as a joint Jefferson Vineyards / Ferrari event and may give us a special rate for those that want to stay overnight. Thoughts? |

If anyone knows of a good place in the Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Culpeper "triangle", let's try to head in that direction. That seems to be a great half-way spot where no one person is driving way out of their way. Anyone know of a good Inn in that area? North of Charlottesville, there is a small town called Barboursville where they have a winery. Might be good scenic location and it's out in the country. Craig, any ideas? I know there is a German restaurant north of Charlottesville that is supposed to be pretty good. Thanks for everyones enthusiasm. We'll pick a place and date soon (within the next week). |

Chris, I think we spoke on the phone a few times a year ago. I am a friend of Herb "Skeet" Goodfellow who does business with you. I think you and Herb called me with some question on 348's a while back. Glad you were able to find a 348 Spyder. if I have you confused with someone else I apologize. Regards, Jon P. Charlottesville is a good town though, I have a store there and there is a great sushi bar there. I don't have any problem with driving in the cold, December or January are fine. Any time really, if anyone is near Manassas drop me a line, we can meet up. For man90tr I haven't seen your TR yet, but I will keep an eye open. Mine is a red/blk '94 348 Spider. It's nice to know so many Ferraris are in VA. Since I've bought mine I've only seen one: a 308. |

Suggestions: Ashby Inn in Paris (VA) Any nice restaurant in Middleburg or Upperville Warrenton Winchester (we have nice restaurants/roads here) Berryville (Clarke Co). All are close to N VA but are far enough away to be rural with GREAT roads and safe parking. Thanks Greg, Dan |

Craig Hess, Paul Prideaux, and myself have talked briefly about also having an impromtu lunch sometime in January in Charlottesville...and then in early 2002 (March / April) having a Saturday lunch and cruise (place TBD). As soon as a date and place is set for January, I'll send out a followup thread. As for March / April 2002, it looks like we have 7 so far from the Northern VA area and 3 from the Central VA area. Is there a more preferrable location (e.g. Culpepper) that would be convenient for everyone other than Charlottesville? If in Charlottesville, Craig had offered to find a place to accommodate us. I do appreciate everyone's interest, although I am getting depressed that we're entering the winter season...I would love to get us all together now. |

I can probably bring a person with me. Also, maybe we can do an improptu lunch during a nice Saturday in January somewhere a bit closer to Northern Virginia. Looks like we have a enough to get a small rallye going. Any suggestions? |

Hi Greg, I live in Reston, VA and would be interested. I am in the same situation as Paul P. as my 95 Challenge isn't street legal either. I would have to tag along in the "Aircraft Carrier" which is what we call our luxo barge (1996 BMW 750iL). Regards, Jon P. Kofod |

Hey Greg, I am the Michael that Dan's talking about and I am already a member. If you have seen a red one out there its me. |

Daniel, you need to get Michael in as a member of FerrariChat (if he isn't already...) Craig, Charlottesville seems like the right location to meet, and yes, I'll probably enlist you to grab a location. Paul, I really think you need to be looking for a 355 Spyder. I'll help you, but I need a high speed lap at VIR in the Challenge car first!! Including myself, we've got 8 on the list so far. Hopefully over the coming weeks or month, we can get some more. Also, I met another F-car owner that lives in Fredricksburg. He has an 84 Euro 308QV. I'll send him a note about a spring gathering. He's mentioned that he knows others that would be interested. |

Greg, great idea. I just sent a similar e-mail to you and Craig before I read this thread. I may need to be a passenger so I don't get into a high-speed chase between the police and my non-street-legal Challenge car. I would lose them, of course, but that just wouldn't be right, right? |

Paul, any way you can make that 355C streetable? For those that are interested, let me know where you're located. Greg Owens, Lynchburg Thanks... |
