Mark, why did you have someone try to pry your badge off? J/K I know what you meant... Willis, they do make em... I have actually installed this type of security system in a truck which had vandalism prior to the installation. The cameras are triggered from a proximity sensor which sends a signal to a timer which controls the recording & cameras, very expensive set up though using 4 cam multiplexer which alone costs $400. With cameras, recorder, proximity sensor, timer and basic security system you can expect to spend about 2G's. This is also part of my business of the many Mods I do.

They should make tiny security cameras that you could install in the Ferrari. If someone touch the car (or worse), the camera takes a picture from each side of the car hopefully one will get an image of the culprit. Supsequent sets of pictures can be taken at 5 second intervals to get an idea where those bast*rds went. Track them down and make their life miserable.

I use the car for nice drives, going to friends houses, and short errands after exercising the car. People can be either real nice to you or give you the dirty looks, in which case, I just drive away from the premises ASAP. It doesn't help my odds that I'm asian. Some people, including other asians, feel threatened that an asian guy could afford a Ferrari. Luckily, no one has tried to do something to my car yet. The worst that had happened to me was when I owned the 300ZX. I had the T-top open and somebody spit at me. Not a nice feeling during a date.

There was a case here in Seattle recently where a guy left his Mercedes E55 parked curbside in a nice neighborhood overnight and it got fire bombed.

Jake, I also worry about leaving the car unattended. Usually, my girlfriend will either go into the store or she'll watch the car while I run in. There are a few restaurants in my area that I feel comfortable leaving it...however, I do get a window seat where I can watch it.

But usually, I'm either running errands to a known "safe" place, over to a friends house, or just out for a nice drive.

I do remember at the meet in Dallas FCA 2001, I 308 gts QV was hit at a restaurant parking lot & the other driver just ran off doing about $4500 est. in damage. Does anyone remember this? Here's some photos.

Luckily I haven't had anything done to my car. The place that I parked it most was the school parking lot, which didnt make me worry about vandalization as much as 17 year old girls in their BMWs. I do worry though when I park it at the mall to go in quick (during the day) or places like this. I never really worried about it at a restaurant though. I guess if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen. I figure I can always repaint one of these days anyway. I'd be pissed if someone took my insignia or badge though. What good would it be for them. I would put car vandalization up there with 3rd degree (not first, that would be too harsh) murder when it comes to punishment. Something about being butt raped might persuade some of the low lifes to keep on their way.

Ive had no run ins with the trailer park crew yet. Where do they get this human garbage from?
Last year at Belle macchine at Pocono PA, 2 cars were keyed at supposedly safe overnight parking. 1 car was an incredinly gorgeous candy apple red Countach anniversary car. Friggin Beavis

The previous owner of my gt4 had parked in front of a little restaurant in Bellingham, WA and found someone had pried off an insignia and keyed a fender. --tim d

I do worry as well. Never had any of my cars vandalized. Not even keyed.
I park in regular parking spots and worry more about some old lady trying to park her Caddie.

Back in 1988, A TR was damaged in public at the Ft Worth Main St Art festival. Some car club was showing off there cars (lambos,328, 308, custom vettes, panteras,etc..) in front of the Worthington Hotel. For anyone that has been to the Main St Art festival, crowds are huge. Some punker kids were checking out some of the cars when they tried to open the door to the TR, a rent a cop yelled at one of them & that is how the trouble started. The kid, slapped his hand on the car laughing to set off the alarm & ran off. The owner was in the crowd somewhere & couldn't be found to shut off the alarm. The rent a cop was trying to keep people from messing with the other cars with some of the owners present. The kid came back to the TR was going to act like he was going to kick it. Well, he kicked the car in the left side strike & bent it in front of a couple of hundred people. The rent a cop grabbed him, called the real cops while the owner was trying to be found. The little punker kid's friends were screaming statements that they were molested by the rent a cop. ( This was one of the funniest things I had ever seen) The TR kicking punker got escorted to FTW police department to call his parents. I didn't stick around until the owner showed up, but I'm sure he was pissed!

Has anyone ever had a car vandalized?? I work quite a bit (like everyone else) and the weather on Cape Cod is unpredictable at best, so I find myself taking my 328 out to the gym, errands etc. or whenever I have time and the weather agrees. I have to leave it parked for up to 2 hrs. sometimes. It seems like all I do is worry about it when I leave it anywhere but my garage. Any one else feel like this?? Maybe I need Prozac
