Last year I sold a Rolex Submariner on Ebay, ended up selling for about 2100, new was right about 3000. Of course I had the seal, reciept, paperwork, box...
Ebay might be a good place to look, it worked for me.
(My dad hand delivered it, made the buyer comfortable.)

When my brother was younger and starting out, he used to buy fake Rolexes on the NYC streets. He would wear the watch to a power meeting and then throw it out afterwards. Cheap trick...

No, he's not the guy with the Fiero/Daytona...

If you're going to buy a fake watch, why not buy a fake Girard Perregaux Ferrari watch off of the Yahoo auctions?

I collect watches, but never had a Rolex, yet a Daytona would be nice. I wear my trusty IWC Titan Porsche Design Titanium most of the time.

Charlene, Join in. Another female? by the way , ,,, where is Dina? We, men who own Ferrari, most likely, ,,,,, desire the unique, female point of view. We obviously enjoy a sexy body, be it steel or aluminum.

By the way, the Fake Rolex (Fakelex) are $15 on the street in NYC. I have a Tudor, never seen a fake.

Hi Guys-- Is this an all-male website? If my husband is glued to this chat-site, I'm going to have to get involved.-- I love D's ferrari (T/R- RED!) and I have a fantastic Rado watch. Charlene G.

The best combination of luxury goods is my Testarossa and my Girard Perragaux Ferrari watch. I bought a "Rolex" in Taipei once and years ago in a break-in at my house it was one of the items stolen. As I recall it was battery powered and the second hand had a smooth sweep. When it needed a new battery, my local jeweller replaced it without a word!

If you go to St Thomas USVI they sell the 4 tick watches at the dock flea market for about $35.00.

Where exactly does one get these "replica" w/ 4 ticks p/ sec. Any websites, or pics? I'd like to see some. How much are they? No, I don't plan to buy one. I have a 15 year old TAG that I plan to keep forever.

I am sure with my luck the mailman will come when I am not at home to sign for it. An excellent point you make by the way about what makes the person.

Peter, All kidding aside that is something you should cherish for the rest of your life. No Rolex or Ferrari can replace the sentiment of that watch. The Rolex or the Ferrari don't make the person. It's what's inside that persons mind and heart that counts. BRGDS, Magoo

Peter, It's funny you should mention it. Frederick and you are both on my list. Just sit home and wait for the mailman to deliver it. Merry Xmas.

What about me Magoo?

I do agree about the quality of Rolex, but my watch is an old Timex I inherited from my Grandfather. He passed away many years ago and I was very young at the time, its one of a few things I have from him. Its about 35 years old and still keeps great time.... that is, if you have the right technique to wind it! Too much and it runs fast, not enough and it dies.... Kinda like the Ferrari....

I wasn't going to touch this one because it sounded "Snooty." Then again owning a Ferrari could be considerd "Snooty." There are probably other guys here who have Rolexes and don't want to post it. My wife gave me a Rolex Submariner SS and Gld. with the optional blue dial and bezel. I have received many compliments on the watch and I love it. I inturn bought my wife a ladies SS and Gld. Rolex with a diamond bezel. We were so pleased with them and their durability we gave each of our 4 sons a SS Rolex for there graduation from college. Yep, I like my Ferrari and my Rolex.

Beware!!! The fake Rolex watches being produced nowdays will also have automatic movements (with the second hand doing between 3 and 4 movements per second) as opposed to a quartz movement with only one movement per second. These contain fairly good Japanese movements.

Best to have any privately purchased watch checked out by a dealer. If it is genuine, the owner should not mind. Shops who buy and sell used watches should be able to check it out fairly easily and for a small fee.

Modman....

I work at my uncles clothing store part-time. We have Armani and Boss suits, as well as Zegna and Canali. Let me know what you want, perhaps I can work something out for all the ferrarichat members.

Pull the crown out and see if it wiggles too much and listen very carefully at the second hand ticks, if you own a Rolex you can tell the difference no matter how real a fake Rolex looks, I have seen many fakes that look pretty damn close but not close enough to the real thing if you look and listen closely. Go to a Rolex dealer and compare. No papers, poor value.Get original paperwork of authenticity. It seems some of us here has good taste for high valued brand names. Anyone with Georgio Armani? Their suits are nicely tailored, what else could I say?

All Rolex's come with apapers, much like a car. If you buy one from a private party, make sure it has the papers. I purchased mine a few years ago from a guy that won it in a co. sales contest. He already had on so he sold mine for a good price, brand new, papers and all.

I also have a Rolex oyster perpetual stainless steel watch. You can tell it is real by the seconds hand. A swiss movement watch does 4 ticks per second. Most fake watches will only do 1 tick per second. I got a chip in the crystal face, cost me $300 for a new one. I got mine in Toronto at Edwards and Davies Jewlers on the Danforth. The fake watches are getting very hard to tell. Some are being made with discarded authentic Rolex parts. Be careful! Get an appraisal when you buy and don't be afraid to take it someplace else to authenticate.

Mark, where did you get it from

I have a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air King. ALL Rolex watches are sold only by jewlers. Real Rolex watches are machined out of a solid piece of stainless steel (except Gold of course). The bands are solid and very heavy, with screws holding them together. A real Rolex will be very heavy and have a smooth but jerky second hand motion. Evem a simple cleaning costs about $200.

My Rolex is much like my Ferrari - over priced and over rated, but a sign of class and sophistication - both to be enjoyed inspite of their negatives!

Hi, This is a question about Rolex watches (sorry NFC). I have a friend at work who wants to buy her husband a Rolex watch. She wants to know where to go to get the best prices and how does she know if it's real. I for one cannot afford one, therore cannot help her. Please help me point her to the right direction.

Thanks
