I took the advice Chris gave and found a site that has GP Ferrari Replicas in just about every style and color. All for $100 or less. I might have to get one or two at that price, who cares if they're fake.

Hi Jack,

I like the new Senna as well - especially the chrono style - but haven't felt the need to add another to the collection...too many as it is now. One thing missing on the new one that I really like is the visible SS on the link...

I have a, Rolex submariner, Cartier Ferrari signature watch, Omega Speedmaster, 1934 18kt gold Longine dress watch, an off brand Ferrari watch with a face that looks like a 328 speedometer, TAG Diver, Whitmire dress watch and a few more that I can't recall right now. I love automatic watches and buy them when I see one I like. My next purchase will be a Breitling Navitimer.

Bill,

A LOT of searching on the internet! Usually an extensive search for high end replicas on Alta Vista is pretty fruitful. I've been burned twice and had some friends who got burned as well, so it's always a bit of a risk. These businesses seem pretty fly by night and some seem to have better contacts than others. Price is a pretty good indicator of quality -try to find the Swiss or Japanese replicas as they are usually pretty good. On some of the nicer pieces, I was there at the right time. My friends and father tried to order the Daytonas after me and the site's been shut down for months. Best of luck.

Watches are another one of my passions. Driving and great watches just go together! Ever notice all the great timepieces on the wrists of all the F1 drivers and team bosses? My eye is always drawn towards a great timepiece on someone's wrist -I'll often notice them in celebrity interviews, etc.

At this stage in life, I'd rather have a lot of high end replicas that I like and enjoy as opposed to one or two real ones. The most I've paid were $700 each for a couple really nice Rolex Daytona replicas (each came with the Rolex box, paperwork, and swiss tags!) In addition I've got a black Heuer Monaco, a black Breitling Navitimer, An black & steel Omega Speedmaster, a black/steel Rolex Submariner, a black and gold Heuer racing chrono, two Breitling Chronomats - one white w/burnt orange straps, one blue with burnt orange straps, a beautiful black on black Breguet chrono dress watch, the red & black Ferrari GP chrono, and just adding a yellow and black Ferrari GP chrono. I've got a half dozen others that I don't wear too often. I took a lot of time to find really nice replicas that often fool jewelers and cost a lot more than most, but I really get a lot of enjoyment out of them, and a lot of complements too! Looking forward to when I can afford the real thing, but for now I'm happy.

Ever see the white face, gold bezel and burnt orange leather straps Concord Impresario? Gorgeous piece, but between 6-9K.

Best,
~C

I have a Tag Heuer link series watch with a white face. I don't see a matching item number listed on the site so I'm not sure what exact sub-model it is. I love how heavy it is.

I have a TAG Kirium F1 ... really understated, chrono, timer, alarm (perpetual). I'm constantly getting complements. Wouldn't leave home with out it - though I am looking at others.

JMG--I remember wanting to buy that watch when it came out, and for whatever reason, I didn't. I've always regretted that, and for Christmas this past year, my fiance surprised me with one of the new Senna watches. I like it just as much.

Ed,

My father still wears his Bulova Accutron every day. He got it early, around 1965 from an uncle who was a jeweler. At the time I don't think they were making them with the clear face for the public, but as my dad is an engineer, he just had to have one.

I remember being fascinated by the sound of the tuning forks. They are very cool watches.

More interesting to me are the "dashwatch" sets that were made by Heur (pre-Tag) that consisted of a watch and a stopwatch mounted to a metal plate for mounting in the car. ChronoSwiss make a new set which retails in the 4k neighborhood, but i would like older ones, yet rarely see them offered. Anybody help?

James, I know what you mean about the Rolex! I also sent my Oyster Perpetual in for cleaning and it cost me $150 Canadian, I guess I shouldn't complain!

I'd love to get a knock off GP send me the address!:-)

I own the Omega Speedmaster Schumacher edition that commemorated when Schuey signed with Ferrari back in 1996.. It has a red face, black bezel and yellow hands on the chronograph.. It came in this cool holder in the shape of 2 F1 tires with real rubber..

A few years back, I had an opportunity to purchase a second hand Girard Perregaux Ferrari watch that was never worn for $2300 which unfortunately I had to pass on, really wish I had bought it.. -)

I have an original Bulova Accutron Spaceview with the tuning fork movement. Purchased it new in 1969 and still runs like new. Just purchased the new Accutron Spaceview with the generator built in. One of only 500 made. I love watches, especially unusual ones regardless of price.

I have searched through basically all of my computer- and the place that I got it from turned into a site by the name of "ThugFashion.com" :-)- they sell "Bling Bling" watches now-a-days... If you want what they describe as "iced out" watches, thats the site. Enjoy. Sorry guys.

Kenny,

I have a similar GP high end replica (in addition to many others). Mines the stainless steel bezel, a red face with a silver prancing horse at the top, black chronos, and really nice cross hatched black leather bands. Love breaking it out on occasion when it goes with what I'm wearing.

I have an amazing Girard Perregaux knock-off, the dealer couldn't even tell the difference. I think it cost me something around 75... It looks to have a black carbon fiber face. If you guys are interested in the sort, email me and I will tell you where to get it.

i love watches as well. i wear the omega speedmaster automatic which is the one they advertise as 'michael schumacher's choice'(even though i bought it before he did !). its a great watch, looks good and is more subtle than the equivalent cost rolex. i like it that it gives you the month, date, and day of the week; great for when i'm on vacation and forget what day it is......

When my grandpa passed away last year, I inherited 3 watches from him.

1)A 25 year old omega speedmaster moon watch, that you have to manually wind up everyday.

2)A 20 year old Rolex sea-dweller automatic

3)A newer Rolex Explorer on a leather strap which I will wear with a suit when I start working.

I think they are a great item to pass down. I can still remember being 4 or 5 years old and sitting on my grandads lap, winding up his watch for him. The only problem is, when I took to get one of the Rolex watches cleaned, it cost $350!!!!! They must be taking some buisness tips from Ferrari on their service practices.

Same here. I just marvel at the engineering involved in putting together a fine watch or clock. Never liked to wear watches though.

andrew - they vary in price by model, and there seem to be a lot of different models over many different years.

there seems to be a set of F50 watches that each list for about the price of a 355 :-)

i love the abstract concept of watches (the beauty, the materials, the engineering) but i just really dislike wearing any type of jewelry, watches, or the like. i take my wedding ring off all the time (work, home, restaurants, etc.) - somehow i've managed not to lose it :-)

doody.
