I bought mine to use as a race car & the project is still underway so I'll let you know in May. I am using a Koenig body kit & Davis Auto Body which does mostly race cars in upstate NY is working on it

William is sounds like you got a great deal on your 512. How did you have do the body work? Were you pleased with the work?

I would probably pay maybe $75k for that 512M, maybe less even. I got my wrecked 512TR for $48k & it was in about the same shape

the F40 is a steel tube car, no composite monocoque, thats just the F50. If u went with Fglass instead of a Carbonfiber body it would make it even cheaper & easier to fix also :)

That wrecked F40 is being sold by Michael Sheehan. I think you could definitely put it together for a lot less than the 325 that they're going for. There is no monocoque in an F40, it's steel tube frame with Kevlar/Carbon Fiber body panels. It can be straightened for a lot less than would be thought. I think for someone looking for a track F40 this would be an excellent start. A lot of F40s have been crashed/burned, a lot more than you would think. They made 1100 of them, they're not that rare really. I know someone that wrecked his F40 actually and there was a pic around her before of one as well.

Michael (mtabije), I've never done business with Mr. Sheehan, but whenever I was in California, I always made an effort to stop by his shop and drool on his cars. Very, very friendly. Nice guy, no B.S., honest, etc...

That F40 is destroyed. The monocoque is is cracked in numerous spots and half the body needs to be replaced. If that is blood in the drivers seat that is disgusting.

By the way, have any of you guys/gals had dealings with Michael Sheehan Ferrari? He seems to have a nice inventory, although quite a few Euro models. Will that affect any warranty service on the cars as Ferrari is trying to block the Euro DOT/EPA converted cars? Am I mistaken or is his website more robust when showing models. I've been to other exotic car dealerships online and it seems like their inventory is limited compared to Mr. Sheehan's site.

This F40 is so badly damaged that it started to look like a F512M

I think $115,000 is too much. I think $45 would be about right. I am sure the engine will need some work also. I still can't believe this happened to this F-40.

I don't know guys, that 5122 looks good for a possible racer. The car needs some body parts but engine is fine. For $ 25 Sterling like $ 30K it appears to be a good deal. Just the engine is worth that plus take all the interior out etc. That would make a great track car, right William?

The F40 looks strange but the engine is okay, basically the whole back part is good and the frame does not appear to have damage at all. The car was ripped off the frame.
What concerns me more is the fact that the head was ripped off and the blood is still in the driver seat.

I'll bet you the repair to this F40 is less than $ 100K. Just looks much worse than it really is.

$115,000 for that F40?, are they insane? The seats weren't even spared!...$40K tops.

If I own a F40, I'd consider buying that wreck at Ferrari-Online just for the spare parts. I wouldn't pay anywhere near the asking though.

That is a shame. I am surprised someone has wrecked an F40.
