Sure enough David, my issue #138 arrived today in the mail and look what was in there! Every time I read articles on the GT4, reinforces the right decision I made about my car. It's all true! I'm so happy with it!

Looks like I stand corrected. My source was an older book on the Ferrari 308. I do not have the book near me so I can not tell you the title or author. A pretty good book otherwise.

Checkout the current issue of Prancing Horse Magazine #138. They actually have a small article about the Rainbow on page 29.

BTW - Prancing Horse Magazine is produced by Ferrari Club of America and comes free of charge with your annual dues. If you guys are not members and you're interested in the article, then maybe I can scan it or something and provide it to Rob to be placed on the site or emailed directly to you. Let me know. Also, you can go to http://www.ferrariclubofamerica.org for club information. I think Rob also has this link on his link page.

See Road & Track Ferrari Special 1991 for the full scoop on the Rainbow. This car was based on a GT4 chassis S/N:12788 which was shortened by 4 inches. Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, was purely a show car to demonstrate a proposed development idea for the Fiat X 1/9. It was also a way to experiment with that fold-back roof to see if it was feasible for production.

Since you all were discussing the designers of current Ferraris (Pininfarina versus Bertone) in the post with the black 348, I though I would post a link to Bertone's proposition for the 308. It was called the 308 Rainbow (I don't know why) and I am very happy Ferrari went with Pininfarina instead.
