They started using Nikasil (they still use it one all the engines, even the F50) to harden the pistons and the piston walls if I rememeber correctly. They did this in response to the oil leakage, etc. problems with the first generation injected cars. So this is no myth. I didn't think they used it anymore until I was going through the Ferrari North America site yesterday and after looking for awhile I realized that they have used it ever since the QVs on all of the cars since. |

I had just come across a web site claiming that Ferrari put an extra chemical in when making the 308 pistons, so they would last much longer than earlier 308's. Is this myth or truth? |
