Jon, My fathers situation was quite bad, becuase there is no dealership in the city we live in. The car had to be transported to Vancouver to get work done. The car was not tracked at all, driven 2-3 times a week. I cannot remember the exact details, but the car either had cracked headers 3 times, or it happend twice and they welded them once. I do remember, however, that he had to fight for a week to have them welded, as the dealership wanted to take the cracked ones to send back to Italy, and have him wait 6 months for the new ones to arrive. The Tubi did not crack as far as I know, but he sold the car soon after. I am quite sure that the Tubi was a thinner steel than other exhausts that I have seen. You would have to get the exact gauge of steel they use to be sure. James |

James, Just curious at what mileage did the headers crack and did you attempt to weld them. Also did your dad's 355 see any track time or street use only. I was under the impression that the Tubi is made of a thicker steel but I could be wrong. Did the Tubi crack as well? Thanks, Jon |

My dad had a similar problem with headers on his 355. After he was told that the wait would be 6 months (this was the second or third time he had cracked headers) and my aggressive sales job on him, he went with a tubi. It definatly lasted longer than the stock unit, but the steel they use seems to be quite thin. I am not sure of the gauge but it seems much thinner than stock. James |

I am in the process of getting my cracked headers replaced but am contemplating a complete new Tubi GT system for my Challenge car. The system comes with silencers that would make my car considerably more quiet (currently exceeds noise limits at Summit Point and Lime Rock). There are no silencers or mufflers for my specific Challenge exhaust (pre-96') so this is one of two options to get the noise down. I have had a Tubi Sport exhaust on my car briefly a few years ago but I am concerned about durability. The system comes complete with headers, connectors, and silencers. Any of you who do heavy track work could you please comment on how you like your Tubi and if it stands up well to abuse. |
