They can be both. But the 355 (fastest Ferrari I've been in) sounded like a pissed off teenage boy... like myself ;)

I'm confused. Is this post about whether the car itself is masculine or feminine or whether the car appeals to men or woman ? IMHO all cars are feminine like boats/ships/airplanes ect.. Thats' been a tradition for centuries and is why we call them she/her. My 348 Spider is certainly femine. She has beautiful curves and angles, responds well to a firm hand, loves to be driven hard and performs best when hot.

Never thought of cars as masc or fem, but have played the feline/canine/ovine/bovine/porcine/ equine ('bout covers it, eh?) game in my head, and the fun thing is to see if a car matches up with its moniker. Jaguars oft are quite feline. Newer Ferrari, equine, but I think of the fifties cars as canine -- more brutish. Lambo Countach are bovine -- no need for finesse, just bowl 'em over (brawn sans brain?). Toyota Camrys are ovine -- try to look like everthing else. And who hasn't owned a car we kicked like a pig.

You guys might not agree but a femine car, because of color, is my wifes' Jag. sedan Flaminco Red. A beautiful high metallic color with gold metal flake. Looks like it is on fire in the sunlight here in Fl.. I just don't look right driving it.

I do think that a Beetle, Metro, etc. are feminine type cars.

Bumblebee? Not..... Romeow? Robert Redfur? Furrah Fawcett? Yasir AraCAT?

At least one of my dogs is "Fangio"

I have to admit - I can't see myself driving a Geo or Bug.......but I don't they are as much "feminine" looking but rather passive in their design. I hated the Neon when it first was introduced because the front headlights looked "cute" and I dislike that adjective when describing a car. Now the ALfa Duetto - still a non-aggressive design but beautiful.....(sigh)

Nika my cat is named Bumblebee cus she is fat, furry, & stripey :)

A few years back a writer in a brit mag wrote an article about how cars represented virility and um phaluses :)
Of course the Jag E type is #1 cus of that L-O-N-G front hood, sort of the John Holmes of sportscars. Then u have the C3 Corvette, Daytona, 250GTO, Viper etc. Mid engine cars carry their power symbols in back under a long rear bonnet like the 512TR, Diablo, Countach, 512BB, F40, & even the 308.
He did say their was 1 sportscar that was something of a eunich cus it had a short front & a short back, the Lotus Elan the little roadster of a few years back with the Isuzu engine.
I guess if u r a guy & drive a Geo Metro, Beetle, AudiTT, we'll all be wondering about you. LOL

Sorry Nika, but anything finiky is female: if you don't press and caress the parts just right, it just won't respond the way it was designed; but if you can beat it around any old way and it's happy and works, it's male.

I feel 308s are masculine.

Whatever I drive - especially if finicky, demanding and takes all my money... is a male..... :)

As for naming your car - Mr. Bumblebee is my car's moniker

Ken,

I did not see 348s mentioned. I think 348s are "studly." :)

Caribe made a comment in a different thread that got me thinking. He said he thought a BMW looked 'feminine' while a 360 was more masculine. I think various Ferraris look both. Feminine: 308/328, Dino 246, almost anything from the 50's.....Masculine: Testarossa/512 TR, 360, 400i, Mondial, 365 GT4 BB/512BB (in spite of the 308 look, Dino GT4...Some I can't place like the 550, 365GTC...what do you guys/girls think? Do you subconsciencly or otherwise assign gender to exotics? I still say all Lamborghinis are masculine except the Miura. My Europa is feminine; Esprits masculine. Others??
