Man, Norwoods seems like the ticket for speed junkies!! Yeah, I've heard/read nothing but good things from that shop.

Billy, Do it. Call James at NORWOOD and get a prescription, then "JUST DO IT." Iron Joe just got him a bullit proof porsche tranny for $500.00
Thats not even a problem. Just think what it's gonna be like. Whoa man, I can still remember bringing my Cab home, fixing the distributors and tuning it. After that, the whoosh of the Turbo was worth it. (And, you can keep all of the old parts for resale.) Remember, I stepped up from an ALFA GTV6.

It is the Lotus I am talking about. Lotus sells a chip that boosts up the horsepower and torque by 100; the problem is the tranny cannot handle it. There is a guy in denver who could install a six speed porshe tranny that can handle the extra power without a problem. If I add intercoolers, since this car has none, I can be pushing at least 500 hp and that is not even touching the engine. The car already does 0-60 in less than 4 sec and 1/4 mile in 12.48 at 119. I must be sick in the head but it is still too slow. The new z06 do this nowadays. Imagine that, a vette surpassing all of our cars.
But I do appreciate all of your opinions. I am leaning on the leave it alone side, but there's always an IF.

Billy I would leave the Lotus alone. It's a beast as it is. That was one of the wildest rides I've been in and we didn't even go that fast because of the rain. Such a bad a$$ car. If you want ridiculous acceleration do the Vette thing. How hard would it be to turn up the boost a little if you wanted a touch more jump (as if spinning the tires in like 1st, 2nd, and 3rd wasn't enough, lol)? If you wanted to modify it some then go ahead, don't worry about collectibility and all, you'll probably be dead before people look at it as one of those "remember when it was running at Le Mans or Watkins Glen type of cars."

A six only left car? Well, you can do what you want to it, heck, there will still be 5 left and amongst 6 die hard purists there will always be 1 that will have a different idea about what to do with their car. Another option is to find parts and do a rebody of it and trick that out....like you can with Daytonas and Austin Healeys.

Anything that rare, if it is also high value, would lose an enormous amount of its value IMHO. If you are prepared for that then fine otherwise leave it in its original appearance - rebuild/refurbish but don't modify. Otherwise, it will be similar to a reproduction. I would only do work which could be easily reversed if required.

I would not mod a "only 6 left"-car.

The key point here is, "If you OWN..." Keep in mind if it's your car that you paid for and you understand that it would be affecting the resale value-and don't care, then do it. So what if there's only 6. It's still your car. Do what YOU want to do and if anyone gives you any crap about it make them start paying for it or it's upkeep.
Remember you don't owe anyone an explanation about your car.
Besides, who in their right mind would be so bored with their life that they are going to let what you do to that thing affect them and how they feel. Tell them if they don't like it to buy the car from you or leave you alone and worry about their own problems.

Michael, the place in Texas is Norwoods, and it's in Dallas. They do amazing things with exotic cars.

My Europa TC is very rare as well and in top condition. I've faced this dilema too: is it a museum piece or a car? I've kept it stock except where driveability and safety are concerned. I have added electronic ignition and an electric fuel pump, water pump casette, upgraded fuses and hoses, new carpeting and stereo, a few other minor things. But I'd never change engines or add FI or a turbo. If I wanted to do things like that I'd buy a basket case and modify it. Since your car is so rare, if you consider it a piece of history I'd not do any drastic changes. Sometimes I feel like I don't own my car; I'm just taking care of it until the next owner gets it (hopefully my son).

Dont touch it!! Bret thinks this Lotus is pretty impressive as it is. A sport 350 Lotus v8 is a good thing and rare as you have stated. Your performance enhancements would only make it marginally faster and why ruin a good package that already works as is..JMHO...as a Lotus owner..Dave

Billy

You are talking about your lotus? I would not change a thing, that thing is awesome -- for those who have not seen it check out the show room under - took my babies out for a photo shoot.

Since there are so, few of them I would think it would be a good idea. It sounds like it is plenty fast enough the way it is. On the other hand it is your choice and if you purchase it, your car too. If you do perform the mod think about how long you planning on owning the car. I would think with it modified it would be harder to sell and can hurt the resale value too.

6 cars left ? In that case I'd leave it alone cus its a piece of history & I wouldnt want to go mucking about with it. What kind of car is it ?

For those of you in Texas, I remember reading an article a few years ago about a shop down there, not sure if it's Houston or Dallas, where the guy takes a lot of high end customers and does slight to moderate mods- such as turbocharging for their Ferraris and Lamborghini's. The more I think about it, the more obsessed I'm feeling about doing some trick work....

Michael, yes there are people who flow heads, one of the sponsors of this site, "Nick's Forza Ferrari". Click on his ad in the top corner to learn more...

The car that I am talking about is already twin turbocharged. The problem is there are only six of these cars left. I can modify this car to almost 600 hp without touching the engine but I do have to change the transaxle. The original has a hard time keeping up with an unmodified engine. Also I am in the process of supercharging an 85 vette. Will let you know how that works out.

While we are on the subject of modding. Have any of you turboed or supercharged your cars? Im with Billy and Willis on this one, when I do get my first Ferrari, I would like to look into turbocharging or supercharging...along with the Tubi. Do people actually do head flow work or boring out cylinders? I would be really interested in any members who have done this.

I would. But it really depend on which car. I'd like to add a F40 someday and it will be modded to near full race specs.

I need your guys opinion on this argument I am having with myself. If you own a very limited edition car would you do any extensive modifications to it? (Not exhaust, K&N filter, or minor stuff like that)
