James,
How did you like Tokyo? Was this your first visit? The reason I ask is because I am moving there in October. Glad to hear there is a museum with a large Ferrari exhibit, that will be one of my first stops. Was the museum free or what was the admissions cost.

The FX was the concept/mold line. It wasn't the full car with the mechanical aspects and interior. The outside was pretty nice in my opinion, though a coworker with me wasn't too fond of the front end. I certainly would take it.

Toyota's have a variety of front emblems in Japan, one for every broad product line. There are a total of five I think. I believe that one of them has an emblem slightly similar to Maserati, but as far as I know there is no Toyota-Maserati collaboration in Japan.

My wife just got back from Japan. She only saw one 355 on the street and two Dino's in some Museum.

Does anyone know about a bunch of cars in Japan that have a Masserati symbol on the front and say Toyota on the back? She said there were these cars everywhere. She couldn't really describe to me if the car looked more like a Masserati or Toyota, just that it had the Mas badge and Toyota name.

Made it to Japan last Sunday and hit Tokyo Wednesday night. Saw a 355 yesterday and today, with the one today in the Akihabara district. The guy must have been wanting to show off a bit - he was revving the engine pretty good while slowly pulling away at about 5 mph.

Went to the Ferrari exhibit at the Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Arts. Unfortunately photography was forbidden, so I can't share pictures. The exhibit had close to 2 dozen cars. There were several 250s of different type. Schui's 2001 car was there along with a pulled engine from the 1990 (if I remember) season. A nice looking 360 was on display as well.

The exhibit also included Maserati. There were some great old F1 racers from the 60s as well as consumer models from the 60s and 70s. There was even one from where I flew from - Texas! The exhibit opened with a huge engineering drawing of the Maserati logo complete with drawing dimensions (radii, lengths, angles, etc).

Overall it was OK. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I would have liked to have seen more cars. Unfortunately I don't have the time to go to the Ferrari museums here. I'm heading to another town Sunday and will be working all week. I hope to at least find time to hit a Fila shop.
