Thanks for the advice Chris (both of you). I may go back to get a second degree since my company pays for schooling. What would be the right track? A finance degree? I have more interests than my brain can focus. Mike: Jack of many trades, master of none. |

Michael, your best bet is to go to a school (like Leonards in Dallas). They will teach you what you need to pass your exam. You will still need at least 3 days of self study after the school. I reccomend you study at a library, too many distractions at home. I have been in this industry for 21 years, I am not a big fan of a series 6 license, unless you are going to limit your practice solely to mutual funds or variable life and annuities. I have seen so many individuals starting with a 6, only to move on to a 7 later. Your career may be well served with a 6, but if you ever change jobs, a 7 will open more doors. Good luck, Chris (series 7, 24) |

Chris, Quick and dirty inspiration from the movie Boiler Room. I have many things that interest me and I love to learn, I'm like a sponge when it comes to different things. I was just poking at the possiblility. I just want to understand the market a little better and have some background. Thanks for your input |

Michael, Good luck on your upcoming exam. Are you now with a brokerage firm? The good ones will provide training materials and/or instructor training. I would go ahead and get the 6 AND 63 out of the way at the same time. When I took these exams, I think I used study aides from Passtrax (or Passtrack or something like that). Are you going to get your 7, too? Chris. |

What materials would I need to study for my Series 6? Have any of you here studied and taken the exam? Thanks. |
