I never thought the day would dawn that I would consider selling a Ferrari to buy a car made by a US car company, but if they build this thing I may do just that. I have always thought the GT40 was a great exotic GT concept (mid-engine Ford, ZF transaxle, racing prototype suspension) That's one reason I bought my DeTomaso Mangusta. The one problem I have with this new GT40 is the low profile tires. It's a bit jarring to see 19 inch wheels with the vintage GT40 profile.

I'll say one thing, That Thunderbird they came out with that is supposed to connect to the 50's T Bird, does nothing for me. That's probably another blunder. The only thing that resembles the 50's T Birds is the porthole in the top.

Saw the car on MSN, WOW! Awesome. Now let Cobra have a 2003 Datona coupe and the American Super cars are back. I am sure the Viper sales success helped Ford jump in the exotic car race.
1/2 the price of a new Ferrari is'nt bad.

Yes, car sales have dropped a great deal, domestic wise for the most part. But the angle Ford is banking on, I think, is the need for an American super car product (besides the over priced Saleen S7). I want to see how the marketing will go especially if they will try to play up the American-patriotic-USA thing. I think Ford needs a big image booster because of the Firestone/Ford debacle and them roasting Jack and leaving him out for the buzzards. It's happening right now. Check your domestic car rags such as Road and Track- there is a huge full page or pages of advertising for their Certified Pre Owned program with comparisons to other manufacturers CPO programs as well. It certainly worked for Jack in the Box when they had the e-coli scare. I love Jack and their add campaigns!

It says that it will be 100K estimate. Do you think that this is a realistic asking price? I wonder what made Ford decide to do this now? Haven't car sales dropped a great deal?

Nice to see this effort by Ford. This clearly is an American exotic, I just wish it was not supercharged but rather normally aspirated. Its so easy to supercharge something versus refining and producing a smooth and powerful motor much like the 360 or 550. The photos and article are impressive. JMHO..Dave
