Wow! That's kind of scary, guys. Glad nobody got hurt--I know how much damage those fences can cause. Good to hear you're walking around just fine.

Thanks Chris you make me feel better. I'm glad you are OK. it all makes you stop and think and really makes you realize that public roads is not the place for this stuff. keep it to the track or in your case driveway/track. see you in a couple days.

glad you are ok. just have to say that having your own racetrack (that doubles as a driveway) is just too cool for words ! stuck here in population density hell of central london, you cannot imagine what a luxury all that space would be. i have taken note, and hope to emulate you some day when i move back stateside.

Hey, I just read Tim's thread on crashing his 360C, I am glad he is ok. I feel silly about writing about my very insignificant crash today after reading his thread.

The ironic thing is that I wrote my thread strictly for entertainment knowing Tim would read it, giving him good joke material for this week at FCA/LA

But maybe somebody can learn from our misfortunes this weekend...

neither one of is seroiusly hurt and that, IMO, is the important thing...

OK it was not a Ferrari!

We live on a ranch, and our driveway has been designed with racing in mind. (Do not tell my wife!)

We have several sweeping turns, a chicane a couple of long straits and a hell of a banked carousel.

Well, when we started this we were racing 4 cycle karts with a top speed of 50mph, those are fun...

Well, today we had Scott Ashcraft (F355, 250GTE 512 Boxer), Daren Adkins (400i) and Grant Maiman (Skip Barber instructor, #2 In Barber Dodge Series) over, instead of 4 cycle Karts, we got out the 80cc Shifters (100mph) karts.

We have 4, mine was not running as I had recently grenaded a moter (I do that alot). We decided to just run two.

Grant is so damn fast that it motivates old slow guys like me to do dumb things. Grant had tapped the fence on the outside of the carousel, and used the excuse the brakes failed, (yeah right!).

Hey, let me show you how that is supposed to be done.....

We have a radar gun set up on that corner, grant holds the record at 56mph just before the braking zone.. exit speed is about 30mph.

my exit speed was 41mph... before I exited off the end of the carousel and went threw a 3 rail heavy duty vinyl fence!

Scott Ashcraft is a MD, he thought I had broken my neck, my head snapped backward so hard as I went through the fence.... Grant was right, the brakes were out!

The moral of this story? Trust your driving coach! If a professional driver tells you the brakes are not working, believe him!... sore in Kansas... Chris

( hey just a note.... I wrote this because this was a pretty good reminder that things can and do go wrong, even with the best equipment in a controlled enviorment... I won't stop driving, but maybe I will be a little more careful in the future. Drive your cars have fun, be safe.... Chris)
