I like the XK8 better and a bunch less greenbacks.

boy, look at that wheel gap - it looks ready to go offroad.... although the shape is similar it doesn't have the visual zing of the aston martin vanquish. any pics from the side or rear ? thanks

btw, at my dealer the popular colors seem to be silver and dark blue.

Other than the little flippy one mark mentions, the only other brochure I'm aware of is the one on the maseratiusa website which you can download. You could print it out at kinkos on some glossy fufu paper.

adam, that's too bad. from the stats it looked like there was alot of potential. I think there are aftermarket exhausts like tubi to spice it up though. still for me in the end I've decided that I'm more comfortable with a more modest daily driver - no need to further antagonize my coworkers.

When I was in the UK for the holiday's, went to the local dealer and saw both the coupe' and the spyder. The dealer was great and let me take it for a quick spin. The car is not a Ferrari, but it is not a lame car either. I think it is a great way to get the Mark back in this country and more guy's on the track with us, and even on this board. It was not designed to steal sales from Ferrari, but to get people started like the Boxer.

"I bid on a brochure for the new Spider"

What Brochure? I picked one up at the local Ferrari dealship for the Maserati Spyder. I was going to toss it out.

Its just 5 by 7 and folds out into six photos. If this is the brochure you want?.. send me your address and I'll mail it to you.

Or are you talking about something fancy that I may not have seen?

Too bad they roped it off. Not a great way to attact people to a conservative (boring?) looking car sitting next to ferraris. If only they had run the engine, it might have generated more interest.

mitchel, how come you had to bid on a brochure ? they should hand them out at the ferrari dealer ?

nika, thanks for taking the pics! Did you happen to take any of the maserati coupe ?

Thanks Nika! I bid on a brochure for the new Spider, but got outbid at the last minute. I've had 4 Maseratis before my first Ferrari.

I took some great shots of it - I'll download them tonight for you. I agree - the car should of been available for everyone to get a close up look.

I saw the Maserati at the Detroit show today. Looked just like the Lotus Elan?(I think that was what the car was called by Lotus about 10 years ago).

Did not have the public buzz around it that the Honda S2000 had. Honda S2000 looked sharper and had a line of people waiting to sit in car.

You could sit in the BMW M3, Audi TT spyder and Miata. I think it is a big mistake to put the car behind the ropes. Let people take turns sitting in it. What? Can't you afford a sample car... they act like they're keep the public aways so they can put the car back on the show room floor after show. I saw a good 10,000 peopld today at the show and none of these car nuts could get close to the Maserati to check it out. How dumb is that?

People want to touch and try things out. I understand Ferrari and Lambo behind the ropes.. but not a new car that has no American following yet.

People just walked by

I was driving through NJ and saw 2 of the New Maserati Convertibles pulling out of the Ferrari Headquarters in NJ side by side, and I have to admit, they look downright uglier in real life than they do in pictures.. With the upcoming new SL Mercedes, all I have to say is Good luck selling that thing; it looks like a cheap Chrysler LeBaron Convertible from the rear...
