I think that is great that you guys include your children in your Ferrari adventures. My father used to take me up in his airplane and let me steer it around and we would fly over our house etc. It was great. I think that is some of the best times.

I let my kids fly my plane. They actually fly left seat in my twin at ages 5 and 6. They have 30 hours each at least and its all legal as I am a certificated flight instructor also. they even have jet time as our Falcon jet pilot lets them sit on his lap at 35,000 feet and fly the airplane. It amazing to watch as they were so short when they started that they flew on instruments first. So they actually did the hardest thing first now they are practicing their VFR stuff. 100 MPH in the TR has been hit with them too many times to count. The 5 year old has it down -- he says "dad go to number three (3rd gear) and lets go" while listening to Master of Puppets by Mettalica (his favorite song). Its a blast!!!

Keep it up Jim, you are a great example for them in my eyes -- next stop 120 MPH!!

I don't know what other guys "dig" in a woman but this is a short list, in no particular order of importance, of what I "dig" in a woman:

1. Confidence in herself
2. Honesty
3. Loyalty to friends and herself
4. Inteligent
5. Problem solver and not a problem creator
6. Interest in cars as more than mere transportation
7. Cultured tastes
8. Treat me like a man
9. Great sense of humor
10. Not a psycho

Yes, Magoo. I don't know where she would get the idea that I might go too fast. Maybe my brother-in law told her about the ride I gave him where we were going 160mph.

Mark, I can id with that. "Watch the radar." However she does like to ride in it. She probably thinks I will get another 115mph ticket. Imagine.

First, let me say that I love my wife but...
I wish she would share some of my love of Ferrari's. She doesn't even like to ride in it. Says it's too loud after I put the Tubi's on it. I guess it's OK because when she does ride in it then it's like having a voice activated speed limiter. All I hear (beside the sweet sound of the Tubi's) is "you're going to fast".

...girls are confident

...girls get speeding tickets as well

I think that sometimes we forget that this is the land of opportunity. I would never get wrapped up into why a person would own a Ferrari whether they are a woman or man. Everybody has there own life and how they achieve their successes, or failures is totally up to them. When I see a woman driving a sports car it turns me on, plain and simple! Isnt it supposed to? I dont care how she got it. I would think she got it the same way I got my car, earned it!

I doubt very much that a woman who had a Ferrari handed to her by what ever means, would bother dedicating a couple of hours a day contributing to this forum. And thats because this forum is for the Ferrari enthusiast that care about more than just herself or himself. They have the genuine passion for which is what these cars stand for most.

And thats all I got to say about that.

I would be a little worried to to let a girlfriend dirve your Ferrari. Your wife, I understand more so but your girlfriend I would think it would be a little risky. Especially after reading Joel's story. Find a women that already has a Ferrari.

I may just be young and naive, but I would never want my girlfriend to drive a Ferrari. No girl my age that I have met is interested enough or can really handle a Ferrari. I like the girls (women) on this site because they're different. I think I'm too competitive too. If my wife had a 355 I would need something nuts like a twin turbo F50 just to make sure that I had the upper edge still. On a closing note, I don't think I'll have to worry because I've only met one woman with a Ferrari, she's married though (why she has a Ferrari in this case). Although she is really hot...maybe I could have a wife with a Ferrari.

Mark, rich husband or not, a woman driving a Ferrari is cool! My wife will not drive my Lotus because she thinks it's a guy thing. I keep trying to get her to though...seeing her drive my car would be a definite turn on for me!

You guys are gonna get a kick out of this. I was parking my car at a local office building, when what did I see, a red 355. I thought, how cool would that be to have two Ferrari's parked side by side. I parked my 348 next to it, went and got some coffee, and when I returned later there was a business card on my windshield. The card read "Cool Car!". I was curious to see who left the card. So I turned it over and it had a womans name on it. I chuckled and said "no way". So I called the number. At the other end of the phone was the lady that left the card. I told her who I was and asked if she had left the card. Then I asked "was that your 355?", she said "yes". Then I asked "Yeah? thats yours?". Again she said "yeah it sure is" at which time I said "Cooool". We then proceded to talk cars. I thought it was neat to talk with a girl that liked cars. They are a very rare breed. Kinda like finding a girl that likes videos games, lol. For me it is more of a pleasant surprize than a shock.

This will sound chauvinistic but when I saw a woman at the car wash driving a 355 my first thought was that she must have a rich husband. Sorry, but that was my first impression.

William:
I wouldn't commit you right away, I think we all say stupid things every so often so I will give you a chance to repent. This is the pact I had in college with a couple guys. First, I would ask "have you lost you mind". Then if you continue, I would first shoot you in the right leg and see if you come to your senses. If not, the left leg goes. Then if you still scream "commitment" after rolling around on the floor useless then I would commit you. At least you would never be able to say I didn't give you a chance and we would still be friends. :)

Willis, down here in Houston female minivan drivers are the worst. Their passive tendencies manifests into an inability to make a decision. Slow drivers, intimidated at 4 way stops, etc. I wouldn't mind if they were aggressive. That shows me they know where they want to go. But down here they tend to drive in a wishy-washy way.
Greg Owens (Owens84qv)
Posted on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 - 12:05 pm:

The honest truth is it's rare to find a woman who is into exotic and vintage cars. When most men (99%) arrive at some money to spend on a second car, most opt for a Corvette, P-car, or a Viper. The rarer breed is focused on a Ferrari. To find a woman who recognizes a Ferrari, let-alone owns one is unbelievably and extremely rare. My fiancee drives mine every once in a while and loves it.

If I saw a woman driving a Ferrari around town, I'd be thinking "classy", "adventurous", "rare breed", "holy s_ _t!"
Willis Huang (Willis360)

Women driving minivans are passive? I don't think so. I find their driving style to be too aggressive and a danger to others on the road (probably distracted by the children in the back seat).

You want my story - I will give it to you......and it's the truth. I left my husband after just over 2 years of marriage - I left him during a takeover at work when I was working very hard....but I also left him 2 weeks after my father passed away. THAT was my wake-up call - life is too short. HE got the house which half of my paycheck went into. I had $500 in the bank. I moved home to be with my now widowed mother. My father had a severe stroke 7 years early so my mother's priority was him for 7 years - the house was in dire need of repairs.

I settled fast-- my friends called me crazy but I wanted closure. I could look at myself in the mirror. My ex... I doubt he could. Do you know what it was like to go to your house and find it emptied? He did this because it meant I'd have to cover the full mortgage ...and I couldn't afford to do that. I had a stellar credit rating and he knew I was proud of it. He worked in a family business and didn't care how it would look on his sheet. I was up against the wall.

I took that $22,000 - he took the $280,000 house that I put $$ in - more than $22,000. I got my sanity and self esteem back. I worked my @## off to own my home, have my dream car and make sure my Mom is taken care of.

So "gsdfhsh" if you can say I embezzled or landed a pay off.....then so be it - but I've been at rock bottom my dear and kept my integrity. And as for yur apology first ......you can [censored]it.

To me it's shocking to see a woman driving a Ferrari or many high-end sports cars. You usually only see woman posing with these cars rather than driving in them. It's been driven into our heads since childhood that girls play with dolls and boys with trucks. So I'm always taken aback a bit when I see a woman behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Vette, Viper, Lambo, etc. Just as I do if I see a grown man playing with dolls (better call the psych on that one!).

With that said, it doesn't make me intimidated at all. If anything, I appreciate the fact she's not stuck in a minivan playing the "conventional" role of a passive woman. Most women I know are more practical when it comes to things like cars, so they don't gravitate towards the same types of cars that our "kind" do. I just wish my wife was more practical when it comes to shoes.

I got a kick out of watching my wife drive the 308. She gets this focused look on her face and you'd swear she'd slap you if you bothered her. She doesn't drive the car now because I told she had to learn to drive it first. That just pissed her off, but she kept dropping the clutch. I have no problem with her driving it, just do it in a more gentle way.

BTW Nika, while we're talking about men and women, how do you feel about racing's use of women? Seems degrading to have those "pit babes" and "grid girls" standing around for nothing more than eye candy. I'd be interested in your view as a woman driver.

My feeling is that one should be supportive and encouraging to a partner in whatever endeavor they enjoy perusing. Because of my own interests, I am drawn to woman in a professional business role. A woman that enjoys motor racing either as a spectator, supporter, or even better a participant. A woman who enjoys and strives for the finer things in life, yet does not strive to always flash it. I personally love to put a woman on a pedestal and show my pride when she has accomplished something that is important to her. If a woman races cars, and is better than me, so be it and I hope she will teach me to be a better driver and visa versa. If a woman drives a Ferrari or other "super car" or a crotch rocket and does it because she enjoys it not for the flash, I think that makes her even sexier. Nothing beats a woman in denim and pearls with manicured nails the same woman in a Nomex racing suit on a Saturday track session and then slipping into a beautiful dress and stepping out on the town. Now that is sexy. A woman who also has an accent is even sexier.

PS.... gsdfhsh ..... That is really a rude thing to say! When my parents were married, they had very little in the way of assets, yet my mother did have more than my father. My mother was supportive of my father as he clawed his way up a Fortune 20 company or when he purchased his first company and grew it into a major corporation. She was always "on call" to make dinner for clients, be ready in 30 min for a client dinner, take care of my brother and me, travel to every G-D awful trade show, or sit at home alone while he was away on business. She even had two dinner seatings, one for us, and another hot meal when he came home. All this wile she continued to work part-time in her professional career and then back to full time. They enjoyed the good life, until they divorced, and 18 years later, and still in the courts ( yes the longest divorce case in NJ history ) she is trying to get enough money to supplement her career that she put on hold for him. He has the earning capacity, and she was there for him. She disserves a fair share of the marriage. Each situation is different and should be judged accordingly.

I praise Nika for taking her settlement and investing it for the future. As far as we know it, she was the one with the better career and more money coming into the marriage.
Richelson (Richelson)
Posted on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 - 11:06 am:

You would think that if a person gets a divorce that it would devistate them and at that point they wouldn't worry about money. I would think after being with someone for years it would be very difficult to see yourself without them unless you were not very close to begin with. If so, then marriage probably wasn't a good choice. I guess the problem is that people change and sometimes not together. I don't believe in divorce but it is neccessary under certain circumstances. (ex. abuse, alcoholism, adultery, etc.) It should never be a profitable move either.

I'll apologize ahead of time for this one. Nika, I'm sorry as you are probably a wonderful woman. And I'm sorry to all the guys on this forum that have some twisted dream of getting into Nika's life ............ Everyone keeps talking about how great it is for a woman to work hard to reach goals and attain luxuries..... Woman who EARN,EARN EARN..... That's great. Woman or man...go for it, go earn it! Nika, I agree, but didn't I read a while back that you got your Ferrari because you got 25k from your divorce (embezellment) and invested it properly???? Sounds like just another disgruntled marriage that ended up in a financial payoff.... I just hate the fact that just because a relationship doesn't work out, that someone feels they should get money. WHAT THE HELL DOES MONEY HAVE TO DO WITH IT?

I will answer that with a joke.

There was this little boy that wanted to impress a little girl

So the little boy said "Hi what's your name"
The little girl just looked at him and went on about her business

"Hey I brought a sack lunch" said the little boy
Showing the little boy her brand new lunch box the little girl said "Thats nice I have my own"

"Well look I have a new pencile" said the boy

"Oh yeah well I have a pack of penciles, a pen, and a new eraser" replied the girl

Frustrated the boy said "Well........I have these marbles"
With a brow raised the girl said "So what" reached in her back pack and pulled out a whole bag of marbles, and said "I have plenty"

Now the little boy was very frustrated because he want ed to impress the little girl, in hopes that he could befriend her. So he thought for a while. Then it dawned on him of the one thing that he had that the little girl didn't.

Standing up proudly he pulled down his pants pointed to his crotch and loudly said "OH YEAH! Well I have one of these!" and stood there with his chest out and his hands on his hips like superman.

The little girl stood up, lifted her dress and pointed at her crotch and said "So what, I have one of these and, with one of these I can get as many of those as I want"

I can truly say that reading your comments is inspiring. I was lucky - I had a wonderful Mother who instilled the value of independence without set boundaries. She used to luge in Europe so I constantly blame her for my need for speed. At 65 she still works as a nurse/certified hypnotherapist.... when I send her to Florida she goes parasailing. I hope to have that vigor when I'm that age. Although no one in my family is a car person... I think I make up for that.

Nika, I don't think it's "shocking". I think it's great when I see a woman who loves and drives a Ferrari. Women who do drive them may recieve "shock" from people who are not familiar with the cars. Would it change my view of a woman? No, I prefer women who are bold and live life to the fullest. It certainly does not make her less feminine, to me it would make her more so. As for intimidating. Perhaps, for men who cannot escape the morass of mediocrity, such a woman would be intimidating. But for the type of men you would find on this forum, I think such a woman would be a complimentary partner rather than an intimidating one.

Being from the San Francisco Bay area originally (near Los Gatos) seeing women in Ferraris, Porsches, BMW etc. was not all that uncommon, nor were women who appreciated such cars. I spent a lot of time hanging out with 2 stunning womwn, one worked in a Porsche shop and the other in a foreign high-end repair shop.

What shocks me where I am now is seeing a woman in a dress!! (Although Denver to the north is a whole different story!)

Nice move, especially if you are small blond chic in a Ferrari with schumacher sunglasses on. They are probably still in shock.

It is a very attractive prospect for a self confident man who does not feel the need to control and is not threatened by women with power - beautiful woman - beautiful car - what more can he ask for??!!!!

But mostly I have seen women driving Merc SL's and not Ferraris. I think it is because the SL comes in auto transmission and does NEARLY the same job with more ease and comfort...its a softer more feminine car.

I'd be intrigued/curious because it's pretty rare. And if they're an enthusiastic driver and enjoy the car as more than simple transportation, good for them.

david, I know what you mean. I've gotten lots of complements from women on my S4. However, the Z06 seems to attact teenage boys and middle aged white guys! And when the guys start raving about the corvette, it's answered with a bemused, quizical look from the gals. Oh well.

I don't think it is shocking at all. Think about it. If you can drive a stick, then what's the big deal about driving a Ferrari. My wife drives mine and loves it. She was a little timid at first, but that's because I was in the passenger seat. After the first time she drove it, she was amazed at how easily it shifted and how fun it was to drive. I still don't think she will give up the S4 though...

She's in the Media (get to the front row type)
She knows how to flirt or charm and smile
She is bold/dashing in otherwords drives a Ferrari

So as a man that dates this type of woman... I was once asked.... "Why don't you take charge more often? I like my man to be a bigger leader then I am?"

My response.. "Sometimes its hard to run fast enough to get in front of a rocket!"

I would be curious if I see a woman drive by in a Ferrari. I would not be shocked, however. I'd say good for her.

Call it poetic justice....what's good for the goose is good for the gander.... LOL

Now WHY is it so shocking to *your kind* to hear a woman owns/drives a Ferrari? Does it change your view of her? Does it make her intimidating? less feminine?

Nika (with an eyebrow raise in curiousity)
