My father picked up the tape back in the late 70's early 80's on 3/4" tape and had it put on Beta (leading edge at the time) and then later on VHS. The car was a 275 or Daytona. I remember my brother and I trying to wire dad's Daytona up with a reel - reel unit in the boot to record the sound just like the tape.... Great flick.... |

Hi Everyone, I think I can clarify the tape in question. The name of the tape is indeed Rendevous and as previously mentioned it was shot in 1968 in Paris. I was the one driving and I had one passenger with a car mounted camera. Now the question that everyone would like answered. The vehicle in question was a 1966 VW van and very simply we speeded up the film and thus you get our 8 minute trip and the sound of whatever vehicle your imagination wants it to be. |

A long time ago, when I lived in Paris ('85) there were record-runs on the periferique in open traffic. Usually they ran in the early morning hours with about ten cars circling around, connected by radio to give the "no police" sign. One car then would make a complete loop. At the time the record was held by an M5 with an average speed of over 200km/h (125mph). I don't know what the current record is |

As another data point it was labeled as a Ferrari 275 GTB when I got my copy in 1989 Anyone know how we can get in touch with Claude and get the word from him? |

The car rreally was a 275GTB, and the movie is in real time, and a MUST SEE. It is amazing to watch the people crossing the street and watch for the garbage truck avoidance. Quality is poor especially after so many bootleg copies, but it will make you feel good. We tried a similar thing tweo years ago with a 355F1 around some backwater roads, the sound of the redline shifts are great. |

Talk about a marketing monopoly.......... This video has also been sold as an NSX collector video, an Aston Martin video and a Lambo video........... My personal belief by it's sound is that it's an NSX, not a Ferrari or any of the others. I have owned this video for about 4 years now labelled NSX rendezvous. It was about two years ago when I saw it sold as an Aston Martin. I've only heard of it as a Lambo video so I don't know it to be true but after seeing it labelled as a Ferrari video now, I'd believe anything. |

Stumbled accross Claude Lelouch's "Rendezvous" video today at the following link: Rendezvous Link I'm not certain as to whether or not this is the video in question, but it seems to match the description (275 GTB racing through Paris at 100 MPH in 1968 -- roughly 9 minutes long). Hope this helps. |

The movie is Rendevous and the guy was driving across Paris, I think in a 275GTB although you never see the car. I don't recall where I got my copy. Great movie. Good Luck. |
