Some great deals to be had are at Auburn at their spring auction. Not as many people as the fall auction so prices don't get quite so high, yet still thousands of great cars. I treat the fall auction as a big car show. Unreal! For those who have not attended, try to do so this year. It's a great time. It is also a Kruse/E-Bay event. Jerry

Any of the older Ferraris were IMHO better buys and investments than any of the muscle cars or hotrods. Who can justify $175K for a Chevelle!!!!

Did he reduce his price to 240k. I remember at first they said it did not sell and then all of a sudden he accepted 240k. Wonder how much he lost

I spoke with the guy who sold the 360 Spider at the auction. It was a European car that had been converted by someone in Florida. He was griping that the conversion took way more time and money than he was originally promised. He would not say how much money, but he said it took just over 9 months for the conversion.

I am a 33 year old, and was there with my semi-handicapped father. When the guy saw me, he told me that maybe if I'm nice to my dad, he'll buy it for me. I know he was just joking, but it was a little ridiculous.

Martin I agree! Why pay $240 000 for a 360 which is going to depreciate significantly when you could have a 275 4 cam for $245K? The choice is obvious! The 275 was a steal!

not true - in 2000 when I went they had some great deals on some old muscle cars and exotics. They are the vehicles that are NOT shown prime time Speedvision. They also have a wonderful car memorabilia auction and an Escada Fashion show - needlesstosay - I was in Heaven!!

I guess you can only buy cars there that are absolute rare. Like the Saleen. Sweet, If I'd only had the money:(

Buying a Spider for $240K and paying an extra $20K for buyers premium? WHAT WAS HE/SHE THINKING?

It is easy to see the "auction fever" kick in with some of those guys, realistically they end up paying a premium for the cars, OK some go for a fair price but emotions always take over. Watch for some reselling at huge losses next year or so.
When asked to represent someone, i love to bid with their money, but you have to sweat it out, easy to be burned. B-J has the best cars and gets the best $$. Go early, study the market and go over and over the car before it runs through the ring, figure what it's worth to you and quit at that point. Kinda like going to Vegas.

I love watching also, but I get upset at how many commercials they go to, seems like every other car they cut away to commercials. I know it has to do with cars paying to be on tv but still, miss alot of nice cars.

The American Muscle car was a big hit - I'm bummed I'm not there. In 2000 when I was, some amazing Bugattis were bought by a Cdn woman.

remember: $200 to be able to bid....8% buyers premium.....$500-$$800 (depends on reserve or no reserve) to SELL the car and $$$ to get a prime time spot in the auction.

www.barrett-jackson.com I think...has the list of cars
