Panoz has done a great job - apart from some road repairs that had to be done after a rain storm -- For 2002 the track will be even better!!
I hear the negative camber corner 2 has been fixed.....If I remember an F-40 went off there BAD one Ferrari track day....years back. |

In response to a number of questions, Mosport was totally repaved and is a great surface. The tree lines have been moved back from the edge of the track and there have been gravel traps and cleaner runoff areas added. The "tire" bridge at turn 4 was removed so you have a cleaned view of 5a/b and can more easily avoid Tee-Boning anyone who has overcooked it in 5. The pit exit was also made safer and redesigned. Many improvements in the paddock area also. It's clear to see what the input of a few million can do. Some of the Canadians who have run the track for years refer to the changes as "taking the teeth out of the dragon". I see it as making the course safer for all. It was pretty hairy before the upgrades. Still the great track it always was. (ehh!) |

Paul, I'm the Chief Driving Instructor of the Ferrari Club of America, Empire State Region. We have 2 events this year; one at Lime Rock in August, as well as one at the Glen over Labor Day Weekend. Both of them are great events. If you would like some additional information, just drop me a line. We will have around 80 - 90 Ferrari's at each event. For all the boys on Ferrarichat, I'm now in New Zealand. I just finished up a long sea kayaking trip and am heading down towards and eventually into the South Island. |

Brian I believe they have repaved Mosport if I'm not mistaken. I haven't been there in awhile but I think I remember hearing about that. |

Mosport - with it's elevation changes - it's a tricky but amazing course. Shannonville - where this racerchick got her racing license is a flat track - hard to get used to the other cars in your peripheral vision.........not as much fun. Road Atlanta, Limerock, The Glen, Laguna Seca - all amazing tracks. |

Paul, I highly recommend you go to the Glen and also get some time on Mosport. Mid Ohio has track time and is also up on the top part of the list. I have been racing vintage for 14 years and would rank these three as top notch. I have yet to get to VIR but have spent quite a bit of time on Summit Point. Shannonville is fair and I always used to race at the festival when VARAC had it there. It is dead flat and one can just about see the entire course from the stands. In terms of most friendly and cooperative locations, Mosport is on the top of the heap in hospitality. Watkins is second but there is a little bit of an attitude and Mid-Ohio has at times been downright unfriendly to participants. Certainly these reflect the experiences and opinions of only some of us and it's well worth trying yourself. Best of luck |

You guys are great ! I'm getting so excited now, it will be hard to wait until the weather changes. I will print this set of responses and carry it around in my wallet ! I think the main thing I now realize is that my job gets in the way of my life. I keep getting these e-mails about the Open Track Challenge on the west coast, starting in Nevada and track-hopping in the region for a week. I've got the fever bad ! |

How about coming to Canada? Toronto, or at least the surrounding areas have tracks...Mosport and Shannonville. I know the club members in Toronto get together for track days in the summer. I'll try to find out...Nika? |

I agree William, the Glen is a must do track, we go for the Zippo every year with the formula cars, hoping to buy a sports racer for this year. Try a trip to the Midwest in September, see my other post! |

Paul, Lime Rock is a fun twisty track u should lap it around 1:00. Watkins Glen is the Queen Mother of NE tracks, Very fast, twisty, technical, it has everything but the weather sux often, I only go there between June & Sept, Its always a crapshoot about the weather at WG. I see nearly 150 on the back straight & the esses WILL get your attention Pocono is by far the fastest track in NE, Ive seen almost 170 on the back straight there & the banking is pretty awesome. WG rules though, if u only go to 1, go there & pray for good weather Good luck, nice 355 C |

Hey Paul, Sebring is in FL! You might also check Roebling Road in Savannah, GA. As soon as I saw the title of the post, I knew it was from you. My other vote would be for Lime Rock. I'll be interested to hear what the vote is. |

Lime Rock is historic, beautiful, challenging and memorable! A classic sports car course in a classic New England setting (can you tell I'm from CT?!). The roads surrounding the track are awesome too! Anthony |

The ferrari challenge series and the historic series came to Road America here in Elkhart Lake, WI last year the first weekend in August. I see that it hasn't been scheduled yet to be there this year but it was great time, and I would guess (hope) that they come back. Love to help in the pits. |

The FCA will have an event at Sebring April 4-7. The Southeast region will have an event in Savannah in October that may be closer. You may want to check with the Southeast region to see if they have anything scheduled for Road Atlanta in May when the Challenge event is due to take place. |

Hello all. This spring it will be time for a road trip. I want to take my 355 Challenge car to a track where I have not been. I live in Virginia and I'm willing to drive as much as 8-hours for a new experience. I have been repeatedly to Summit Point and Virginia International Raceway. Can anyone provide advice about my choices? I would like to find a track that is fun, open, well-maintained, memorable and available. As I know it, the long list would include: Lime Rock, The Glen, Mid-Ohio, Charlotte, Road Atlanta. I am looking for a track event, not a race; therefore I would probably need to hook up with a FCA sponsored day or some other open track day. Any advice would be appreciated (William, I'm looking your way).
