Why not just temporarily wire up your own switch for the fan so you can turn it on/off whenever you want? $5 at Kragen and you are done. Then when you get back you can make your own mechanic fix it again since he's already billed you for something that didn't solve the problem, ha! It could be a million things, but all pretty basic: temp sensor that connects the fan circuit is bad, fan itself is bad, some wiring between is sketchy, and worst of all, the thermostat isn't opening right and so the area where the temp sensor for the fan is (I'm assuming it's in the radiator like on most car) isn't getting hot.

FWIW, the independent shop in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach fixed my friend's cooling problem in his TR while he waited once. Another time they gave me some head to cam cover dowels I needed for free. Don't remember the shop name but it's probably the only one there.

I arrived in LA yesterday for the FCA annual meet, my 512TR arrived the day before. Took her on a short ride last night & the water temp is overheating. I'va had this problem since January, seems the drivers side radiator fan doesnt come on when it should. My mechanic has gone as far as to change the circuit board attatched to the fuse box & of course the fans work, When the car is at his shop :-( If anybody knows a good Ferrari mechanic in LA or has some knowledge of the system please let me know ASAP, Thanks
