I like the hunt, which is why I have bought 6 and sold 4 in just 6.5 years. I also like to experiment with different models and can only do that if I sell some. My experimentation led me to buy a 328 GTB and I consider this car a keeper, all the others I knew would be temporary, but I drove them a lot when I had them and learned a lot from each car. I kept them an average of 19 months. Current cars have been here 29 and 6 months. The 6 cars stayed with owners (including me) an average of 3.95 years and climbing since I still have 2. The longest ownership record among these is 16 years (77 308 GTB), the shortest 6 months (94 348 TB). I recently saw the guy I bought the 77 from at the track. He had his 64 AC Cobra 289 that he bought in 1967 for 3500. so he tends to keep cars!

I would imagine most of the participants on this site would like to hold on to their cars and add to their collection or only upgrade when the right one came along...hence 4-5 years. Others... probably 1-2 years. Which is why you see a lot of cars with many previous owners.

I bet the people who post here aren't 'average'. There certainly are a lot of cars on the market, and many have had two or three owners in a couple of years, but I bet most of those are one-time-only Ferrari owners who pick it up for the status, not because it's a Ferrari.

For a non-classic Ferrari I would guess at 5 to 6 yrs since a new model comes to market every 4 to 6 yrs.

My goal is to never sell one, just buy. I think it's cool the people that buy one and buy a new one every couple years just to try the dif models. However, my ultimate goal of the 328, a classic 12, BB, challenge, and late model Ferrari is where I'm headed. The other models I will learn and experience through friends.
