Depends on how long you plan to keep the car. I would not buy a 3 year 15Kmi 550 without Ferrari service records

OUt of warranty, so go ahead, if the place is reputable and gives good service at a fair price. Support the independents!

I live in the UK and have a 550 Maranello which is just over 10k miles and 2 yrs old.

Is this car too young to take to an independent Ferrari mechanic/shop?

My local independent shop is www.khpc.co.uk and apparently has a good reputation.

Will I damage resale by going to an independent this soon? If so, what kind of age car do people start taking the independent route for maintenance?

My motivation here is cost... my nearest main dealer (also the UK importer of Ferraris) is 30 miles away.
